‘Supergirl’ Spoilers: A Villain, A Lane’s Arrival, And More Teased

Supergirl was one of the most hyped shows of the new fall season, and it is now being called fall’s No. 1 new show. Supergirl premiered on Monday night, and it appears the series lived up to all of the hype. The arrival of Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl into primetime went well, and now fans are receiving more teasers about the action ahead.

Kara, who was sent as a young girl to protect her infant cousin, has lived a very different life than Superman. On the series, her pod was stuck in the Phantom Zone for 24 years. Somehow, her pod broke free and headed to earth – she was not alone though. A prison located in the Phantom Zone also exited at the same time, and now all of Krypton’s worst criminals are on Earth with the same powers as Superman and Supergirl.

Superman was not seen all that much on the series premiere, but fans caught a quick glimpse of him in shadow when Kara landed, and she soon found out that Superman sent his buddy Jimmy Olsen to National City to help his cousin. She did not realize that at first, but after a few dropped hints by Olsen she finally caught on.

Fans can expect to see more characters’ pop up on the next episode and as the season continues to progress. Entertainment Weekly shared a spoiler for the series in their weekly spoiler report on Friday, and fans will see the villain on the series, Maxwell Lord, who is played by Peter Facinelli, make his first appearance on this week’s episode.

“You’ll get your first glimpse at Peter Facinelli’s morally ambiguous businessman in Monday’s episode, and he definitely has a very strong opinion about Supergirl. But it’s another lady he’ll be going toe-to-toe with soon: Cat Grant. ‘They’re two of the most powerful people in the city, so there will always be a tête-à-tête, a little sexual chemistry between them,’ executive producer Andrew Kreisberg says. ‘They have some fun scenes together in episode 3.'”

There are additional spoilers out now for the next two episodes from TV Line. Fans will see their first Lane pop up on the series during Episode 3.

“As a matter of fact, not only does Clark Kent get name-checked in Episode 2, but his lady love Lois also is mentioned. (Jenna Dewan-Tatum then of course debuts as li’l sister Lucy aka James’ ex the following week.)”

It is not known yet if fans will see Superman or Lois Lane on this series. There have been rumors of Tom Welling reprising his Superman role for The Flash. If Supergirl is located in the same universe as The Flash and Arrow, it is possible Superman could pop up at some point – if the Tom Welling rumors are true. His lady love, Lois Lane, now has her own series in Canada, Saving Hope. On Smallville, the series that Tom Welling hails from, he had a Kara, so it would be difficult to bring him to Supergirl.

Supergirl is just beginning, but the series managed to have a strong start. It did not fail to live up to all the hype. The opening episode for the series did follow a formula a bit, but the premiere needed to set up Kara’s origin story.

Now, the series can begin to tell her story because the ground work for her origins were laid down in the premiere. Kara and her alter ego are creating waves. Will Supergirl remain the top new series of the fall season? There is no way to know. Television viewers have a tendency to change their minds.
