Halloween 2015: 15+ Last-Minute Costume Ideas For Anyone

Halloween is quickly approaching since it’s on Saturday this year. Do you have a costume picked out? If not, then you may want to consider some of the following Halloween costume ideas below. Even though some of the following costumes are dubbed as science- and sports-related costumes, they’re more than likely to be loved by pretty much everyone at the party. Most of these costumes are also easy to put together with just some of the items laying around your house.

Five Science-related Halloween Costume Ideas

  1. Pluto and its moon Charon

This is the perfect costume for couples who do not know what to dress as this Halloween. To dress as the planet Pluto, you can dress in head-to-toe orange or red, if you’re feeling lazy. Since it’s been discovered that Pluto has a heart-shape on it, you may want to stick a giant shadow heart to your front. To dress up as Pluto’s moon Charon, you will need to wear head-to-toe gray. Bonus points for wearing a gray beanie and matching sweater. So that people know you’re Pluto and Charon, you will need to hold hands and spin around each other.

  1. The Doppler Effect

To create the illusion of the Doppler Effect, wear a black outfit with white vertical stripes. You can also paint stripes onto a black shirt and black pants. You can also make the sound of the Doppler Effect, which is a pitch-screaming noise, as seen in this Big Bang Theory video below.

  1. Thomas Edison and his creepy dolls

Don’t just dress up as Thomas Edison. Dress up as Thomas Edison holding one of the many creepy dolls he made. You can find creepy dolls at thrift shops, party stores, and many Halloween prop stores. For this costume, you will need a white wig, a suit, a bowtie, and a light bulb.

  1. Dark matter

Only the nerdiest or smartest people know what dark matter is, so they’ll understand your costume. Just dress however you want and tell people that you’re dark matter, then get into a philosophical discussion about the cosmos.

  1. Iron Man

No, you don’t need to buy a licensed Marvel costume to become Iron Man, but you could if they’re still available. A lazy and nerdy version of this costume would be to draw the chemical symbol (Fe) for iron on your shirt. Bonus points for dressing up in gold and red.

Five Sports-related Halloween Costumes

  1. Lebron James

All you need is a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey and the NBA star’s iconic white headband.

  1. Coach Jim Harbaugh

Wear a navy blue Michigan Wolverines shirt with a matching baseball cap and khaki pants.

  1. Michael Jordan’s crying face

Either print out Michael Jordan’s crying face and wear it as a mask, or fake some tears that night.

  1. Bill Belichick

All you need is New England Patriots gear to pull off this coach’s look. Bonus points if you have a poker face all night.

  1. Michael Phelps

You have to be brave (and warm blooded) to pull off this look. All you need is an American flag speedo and shower cap, and you’re done!

Five Easy Last-Minute Halloween Costume Ideas

  1. Snapchat Ghost

All you need for this look is a white sheet and a neon yellow background. Maybe you could have a friend hold a neon bulletin board behind you. Or, you could just stand in front one all night long. Draw the eyes and mouth with its tongue sticking out onto your sheet. Drape the sheet over you, then walk up to people and disappear 10 seconds later. Bonus points if you take their picture (with a Polaroid), or if you draw the “puking” rainbow on your sheet. If you’re creative enough, you can also paint the puking rainbow on your mouth.

  1. Halloween

How do you dress up as Halloween, you ask? According to PBS, all you need for this costume is your voice. When someone asks, “What are you?” shout, “Halloween!” Then shout “Halloween” at no one in particular. Of course, you can always settle for a festive Halloween T-Shirt or ugly Halloween sweater.

  1. Facebook Like

For this look, you should dress in head-to-toe white. Or dress up as Mark Zuckerberg in a gray hoodie and jeans. Paint your hand blue or wear a blue foam finger that has the thumbs-up sign. Give the thumbs-up to people and things all night. Or you could follow The Office’s Jim Halpert and write “Book” on your face, as seen in this classic scene below.

  1. Emoji

What you’ll need is various objects to express your mood. For example, you can use fruits, office supplies, and accessories to express yourself. Make sure to greet people with facial expressions and hand gestures. Another way to dress up as the emoji is to print out various emoji masks to express your mood throughout the night. As mentioned before, you can always paint your face as an emoji!

  1. Uber, Air BnB, Instagram, Netflix App, etc.

If you’re still not sure what to be for Halloween, dress up as your favorite app. All you need is to print out the app’s logo and tape it onto your shirt. Bonus points for dressing up in the app’s iconic colors.

This guide should help you choose and create a last-minute Halloween costume in a snap. Since most Halloween parties are starting tonight, you’ll be able to pull together a costume in just a few short hours. What are you going as this year? Share your thoughts below in the comments section.
