Man Killed In Crash On I-5: His Dead Body Ejected 20 To 30 Feet Onto Ventura Freeway Sign In California [Video]

A man was killed, and his body ejected, after a crash involving his car and another vehicle ejected his body onto a freeway sign. As reported by ABC7, the man drove his Ford Focus in a reckless manner and did not wear his seat belt prior to allegedly hitting another vehicle and losing control of his car, which flipped several times before crashing. The man, whose name has not yet been released to the public, was a 20-year-old who was ejected in the crash, and his body oddly landed atop a freeway sign on I-5 near Glendale, California.

As seen in the video below, taken in the wake of the horrific rollover fatal crash that occurred Friday morning, the man’s dead body was covered by a white sheet as emergency workers used a ladder to reach the deceased. (Warning: The following video contains sensitive material. Discretion is advised.)

The manner in which the man died after the fatal crash is reminiscent of biblical days where dead bodies were at times displayed on high. People are reacting via social media to the news of the deadly crash that occurred at approximately 7 a.m., local time, near Colorado Street.

On the Fox 11 Los Angeles Facebook page, people are also reacting to the sad news of the fatal crash.

“It’s something I’ve never seen…they had to use a ladder to climb up to the body…” – Rick Dickert

Reportedly, the man was driving at a high rate of speed in the southbound side of the freeway. He struck another vehicle that contained three people, but those passengers survived the crash and are said to be okay. The California Highway Patrol reported that after the dead man’s car rolled over a few times, he was ejected and his body sent flying up, landing on the freeway sign. After landing on the freeway sign, the man was pronounced dead while still at the scene of the accident.

With horrific photos emerging of the dead man’s car, showing a truly mangled vehicle, his fate underscores the importance of wearing a seat belt and not driving with wild abandon. Edgar Figueroa, a California Highway Patrol Officer, noted that all the factors combined in this case — fast speeds, no seat belt — to increase the chances of the man getting ejected.

“The dynamics of a vehicle collision, especially at high speeds — and including not wearing a seatbelt — anything like that can happen. Driving at a high rate of speed, not wearing (a) seatbelt, and rolling over… people get ejected out of cars like that.”

The crash caused the freeway to close lanes for several hours while the dead man’s body was retrieved, and it was approximately 11 a.m. when the freeway lanes were reopened.

On Twitter, people have reacted to news of the body being ejected onto the freeway sign, because it’s an odd occurrence. The man’s name hasn’t been released in the fatal car accident, reports the Los Angeles Times? – pending his family being notified. However, it is known that his body went sailing at least 20 to 30 feet in the air as a result of the crash and the momentum of the rollover after his car collided with a different vehicle.

Photos of the man’s body as it laid on the freeway sign designating Colorado Boulevard, as well as images of his body being lowered from the sign, are on social media.

Seeing a body resting upon the freeway sign was surely a shocking sight for morning commuters.
