‘The Vampire Diaries’: Alaric’s [Spoiler], ‘A Huge Reveal’ And Bonnie’s Flashforward

The Vampire Diaries Season 7 is slowly revealing more pieces from the mysterious puzzle that is the “three years from now” flash-forwards that have been offering teases of where people are in the future. Bonnie joins the list of those whose futures are teased in the next episode, 705, “Live Through This.”

But first, the latest Vampire Diaries episode opened with a tease of Alaric’s future, and in three years, he has twin three-year-old daughters, which in itself indicated that Bonnie would be able to bring Jo back to life in the present. (Because, let’s face it, how else could he have twin daughters in the future? It’s probably best not to wonder how the babies are also resurrected, but hopefully that will be explained.) In fact, that’s what Bonnie does, after finding the right spell to use and seeing it work on Oscar, whom Damon needed alive for the hostage swap for Elena’s body. Questions about what being brought back to life means for Jo – Bonnie hadn’t been sure she should do it because without the Other Side or the prison world, Jo was probably at rest – are going to have to wait, however, since the episode ended with her alive again.

As for those twin daughters of Alaric’s, the flash-forward does not show their mother, possibly in part due to the episode opening with it and wanting to keep her resurrection a surprise for the end, but it does show Damon showing up at the front door, looking for an invitation inside and telling his friend (though who knows the status of their friendship in those three years) no one has died yet.

Writing about the episode for Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Julie Plec revealed that one of the girls is Josie, while “the other’s name will be revealed much later in the season,” and it’s a name that “brought tears to [her] eyes.” Could one of his daughters being named after Jo be an indication that perhaps this resurrection isn’t going to stick for very long and he’s honoring her memory?

As has already been teased, Vampire Diaries Season 7, Episode 5 is going to feature Bonnie’s flash-forward, and Kat Graham teased the inspiration for the episode to TVLine, as well as reiterating that they show who Bonnie ends up with in the future.

“The inspiration behind future Bonnie was sort of Helena Bonham Carter in Fight Club – a little more of a bad girl, as well as someone who’s hiding a secret. It’s very different from the other flashforwards you’ll see.”

In other news, in this next episode, Graham teased that more will be revealed than just Bonnie’s future.

“We don’t find out everything that Lily has done, and all the ways she’s effed everybody over, until Episode 5. There’s a huge reveal for Bonnie and Damon in that way.”

As the synopsis for this Vampire Diaries episode states, “Live Through This” will see Stefan finally come face-to-face with Valerie in the present and find out upsetting details about her past, which is teased in the trailer the CW released. In it, you can see Valerie telling Stefan she’s pregnant, and it doesn’t seem too far-fetched to guess that this is going to lead to him finding out what Julian did to her.

The latest TVD episode saw Valerie and Enzo form a tentative alliance to deal with the upcoming Julian problem. She knows what a monster he is, and he doesn’t want Lily’s former love in the picture given his feelings for her. TVLine has also teased that she’ll be working with both Salvatore brothers, “against her will,” and it’s easy to start guessing what that could mean for her relationship with the other heretics, especially since, as Teressa Liane has teased, “they don’t entirely trust Valerie; they’re always keeping a watchful eye on her.”
