J.J. Abrams Reveals When New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer Will Be Released

The release of the second Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer last week saw movie fans across the world weep and rejoice in its majesty. The latest clip amped up the anticipation for the blockbuster immeasurably ahead of its release in around a month and a half’s time.

But when is the next trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens actually being released? Well, unfortunately, J.J. Abrams has confirmed that there won’t be any new trailers for the seventh instalment to the beloved franchise.

However, before you start wailing and immediately counting down the seconds until Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits cinemas in the first minutes of December 18, 2015, the film’s co-writer and director J.J. Abrams admitted that there are still numerous TV spots on the way.

J.J. Abrams made this revelation during his recent chat with Extra TV, where he was asked about potential further Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailers, to which he remarked, “The next thing is really gonna be the movie. There will be more commercials, but no more trailers.”

Obviously, it’s a little bit disappointing to hear that we’re not going to get a further longer look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as we’re still yet to get a proper look at some of the characters in the new film.

This includes Andy Serkis, Max Von Sydow, and Lupita Nyong’o’s characters, as well as Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker. The omission of the latter has especially led to fevered speculation about why J.J Abrams and the powers that be with the latest Star Wars film have kept the character hidden from view so far.

Speaking about the lack of Luke Skywalker in recent trailers, J.J. Abrams recently insisted that his absence was “no accident.” After recently being asked by the Associated Press at the GLSEN Respect Awards, via the Guardian, if there was a specific reason why Luke Skywalker wasn’t in the trailers, Abrams teased, “It’s no accident. These are good questions to be asking. I can’t wait for you to find out the answers.”

However, it’s also probably a good ploy from J.J Abrams not to show too much of Star Wars: The Force Awakens before it is released into cinemas. Many movie fans have long become tired of the fact that trailers for films reveal way too much of their action scenes, plot, and all-round best bits. We’ve only seen a minimal amount of Star Wars: The Force Awakens so far, which means that there is still plenty left to get excited about over the film too.

Any additionally look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens is always appreciated though, especially since the first two trailers for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming blockbuster were met rather ravenously by film fans. Heck, even casual moviegoers and people who don’t venture to cinemas that often were caught up in the hysteria over the clips.

In fact, according to figures from Lucasfilm, the second and final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was viewed over 112 million times in the first 24 hours after it was put online.

The hype and excitement over Star Wars: The Force Awakens following the release of these trailers, plus because of the fact that it’s a brand new Star Wars film, mean that there are hopes from the people over at Disney and Lucasfilm that it could beat Avatar‘s record box office haul.
