‘Scandal’ Season 5 — Will Wedding Bells Finally Ring For Olivia And Fitz In Episode 6? [Preview]

As Season 5 of Scandal continues to develop, it becomes less clear how Olivia and Fitz are going to get out of their current predicament and how they plan to continue their relationship now that it is out in the public eye. With that in mind, will the coming episode reveal a plan for the two to finally marry each other?

According to TV Fanatic, a recent teaser trailer for the upcoming episode indicates that a wedding might be on the way for Olivia and Fitz. Although a wedding would be difficult considering the current situation between Fitz and Mellie, and taking into account the implications the affair might have on Fitz’s legacy as president, it might actually solve some of their woes.

Of course, Cyrus will play an important role in helping Fitz and Olivia tie the knot. While a wedding might be the ultimate goal for Cyrus, the new Chief of Staff certainly has a lot of work ahead. Not only does he have to deal with all of the aforementioned issues, but he also has to make the case that Olivia and Fitz truly love each other.

Making the public believe that Olivia and Fitz are in it for the long haul has more significance than might first meet the eye. In fact, this would go a long way in proving that the president was not having some short-lived fling as a product of a poor relationship with his wife.

That being said, it isn’t clear if Fitz will pull the trigger on the plan and marry Olivia on the next all-new episode of Scandal. If this does end up happening, then it will certainly be interesting to find out how Mellie reacts to the whole situation. If the official synopsis for the episode is anything to go by, then Mellie’s reaction is not going to be kind.

Speaking of Mellie, CarterMatt is reporting that she will not stand quietly by while her husband makes plans with Olivia. In fact, while Mellie is still dealing with a shift in public opinion in favor of Olivia and Fitz, she will also be forced to deal with Cyrus leaving her to join Fitz’s side. Although Cyrus’ departure was hard on Mellie, it is only the beginning of her troubles.

In fact, it appears as though Mellie will be in for a rough episode. In addition to her dealing with a possible wedding between Fitz and Olivia, Mellie will be facing tough questions regarding her troubled marriage with the president. How she deals with these private questions will go a long way in determining how well she is able to prepare her own public image.

Meanwhile, Mellie is also determined to get her own revenge on Fitz. What this entails and whether or not Mellie has any secrets to reveal about her husband will be interesting to see as her story unfolds. If Fitz and Olivia do exchange vows in the coming episode, will Mellie dig up past secrets and attempt to ruin Fitz for good?

Speaking of secrets and possible damning revelations, Fitz will have to make certain that if he does choose to marry Olivia, nothing crops up from his past. In particular, if it is known that Fitz waged war on West Angola because of Olivia, then his presidency could be faced with some major controversy. This is obviously something he would want to avoid and might factor into his big plan to stay with Olivia.
