WWE News: Vince McMahon Furious Over Blood In Brock Lesnar Vs. Undertaker Hell In A Cell Match

During the Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker Hell in a Cell match on Sunday night, both men were bleeding at various points, and Vince McMahon was reportedly furious over it, according to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline (via Wrestling News).

In a match that was built up to be the last encounter between Lesnar and Undertaker, it did not take long for the physicality to ensue, leaving both men visibly battered and bloody. After realizing that both competitors were bleeding, McMahon “freaked out,” according to a text message Alvarez received from a WWE employee who witnessed the scene.

“Vince freaked the f**k out. There’s no polite way to say it. Kevin Dunn freaked out and screamed to get a doctor out there.”

Under Dunn’s instruction, the doctors made their way to ringside in an attempt to “calm” both Lesnar and Undertaker down. However, their presence was brief and help was unneeded. In the heat of the match, Lesnar shoved away the medical assistance before continuing the match. There is also some controversy as to how Lesnar and Undertaker began bleeding.

After WWE’s transition into its current family-friendly and PG environment in 2008, a lot of moves, stunts, and props that were viewed as dangerous towards the superstars’ health were banned. Among the things that were banned was blood, thus wrestlers were no longer allowed to cut or “blade” themselves to induce bleeding.

But at one point during the match, Lesnar was shoved into the ring post head first. However, it seemed that Lesnar did not make any sort of contact with the post. As Wrestling News points out, the announce team of Michael Cole, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and JBL quickly tried to cover it up, saying that Lesnar was able to block himself prior to striking the post.

Yet, within seconds of the visibly not striking the post, Lesnar began bleeding. That’s causing questions to circulate as to whether or not Lesnar “bladed.” At this time, Lesnar’s actions or lack thereof are not known, but as the report mentions, the last time somebody went against WWE’s orders and intentionally cut themselves open during a match, it ended up being a costly financial decision.

In the fall of 2008, Chris Jericho and Batista were feuding on Monday Night RAW over the World Heavyweight championship. Eight days after Jericho lost the title to Batista at the Cyber Sunday pay-per-view in late October, Jericho won the title back from Batista in a steel cage match on RAW. But during that match, Batista cut himself open. The company had just made the switch to being PG rated, and Batista’s actions infuriated McMahon to fining “The Animal” $100,000.

He spoke about the incident on Jericho’s podcast Talk is Jericho last year. Here is an excerpt from that conversation.

The match last night was not the first time that Lesnar and Undertaker engaged in a bloody war inside a Hell in a Cell. At the No Mercy pay-per-view in 2002, Lesnar defeated Undertaker in a match that saw “The Deadman” covered in a pool of his own blood.

What happened in this match can no longer be changed and business as usual will resume, starting tomorrow night on RAW. For Lesnar, his next rumored feud will be with whoever WWE chooses as his Wrestlemania 32 opponent. As for Undertaker, after being abducted by The Wyatt Family after his match with Lesnar, he will likely be working a program with the foursome at Survivor Series.
