Brooklyn Beckham Needs Approval From Parents On Social Media, David Talks Parenting

Brooklyn Beckham has racked up more than 5 million followers on Instagram during his short time on the social media platform, but what is interesting is that the 16-year-old is closely monitored on his social media activity by mother Victoria and father David.

David Beckham recently shared about his strictness with his children, and especially the rules he has when it comes to public platforms. The soccer icon also noted just how open Brooklyn is with he and Victoria, and demonstrated just how lucky he feels to have a teen who confides in his parents so fervently. The Telegraph relayed the words that Beckham senior shared about his eldest son.

”I’m constantly on at my son who is 16. He doesn’t post anything [on Instagram] without showing us [first]. He talks to us about everything, so we are very lucky.”

David went on to relay how he is also beginning to be strict about his 13-year-old Romeo’s actions on the popular social media site.

”My 13 year-old has a private one because he’s allowed to. But, apart from that, [they’re not on social media]. I think you have to control what your children do to a certain extent.”

The Beckham’s youngest son, Cruz, who is only 10, and their adorable 4-year-old daughter, Harper, aren’t yet a concern when it comes to posting and publicizing. However, it’s clear that in a matter of years, the high-profile parents will be on heightened alert. Surely the two youngest will follow in their older siblings’ footsteps.

As for following in their father’s footsteps, when it comes to his sport of choice, David shared that he does not expect any of his children, nor pressure them, to take up his beloved sport of soccer.

”They don’t think about their dad being England captain or playing for Manchester United or Real Madrid. They just like playing football. If they don’t want to play, I’m not going to get upset about it. As long as they’ve got an ambition, as long as they’re passionate about something, that’s all I want for them.”

The Beckhams are also sure to inspire their youngsters to do what they love because they love it and for no other reason. Victoria and David, although extremely wealthy, arrived at their success by following their heart and doing what they love without the thought of wealth or fame.

”I always say, you know, I didn’t play football to be famous. I didn’t play football to earn money. I played football because I was passionate about it and it was a hobby for me. I had a 22-year hobby and that is how I have always looked at it. I’ve been very fortunate to have done what I have done and travelled where I’ve travelled, and to have what I have. But it’s not why I did it.”

David Beckham has made a life for himself doing what he loves and has done so consistently with a humble and charming way about him. This same demeanor has clearly also been instilled in his sons, most noticeably in eldest son Brooklyn, who is keen to take on acting as his love. The teen heartthrob has been involved in modelling campaigns and a few small gigs up until this point. Most recently, the 16-year-old has starred in the new video for the band Vamps, as the Mirror shares.

The son of the Beckhams is clearly following his father’s advice and igniting his own future that is a far cry from the soccer pitch. However, David and Brooklyn are clearly very similar in many notable ways and the British power couple should be immensely proud of the children they have, and are raising.
