Carrie-Anne Moss Attends Marvel’s ‘Jessica Jones’ Launch Party: First Trailer Released On Netflix

Carrie-Anne Moss, better known as Trinity in The Matrix trilogy, is co-starring alongside Krysten Ritter in the new Marvel series, Jessica Jones, on Netflix. The cast attended the launch party in Milan, Italy, on Thursday, October 22. Jessica Jones is set to be released on November 20. Carrie-Anne Moss will be playing a “gender-bender” role as Jeri Hogarth, a lawyer who hires Jones for her cases. In the original comic series, Hogarth was a male lawyer, Jeryn; Moss’s character Jeri is lesbian. Moss was known more famously for her role of Trinity in The Matrix, which Moss played in all three movies. Moss was asked to join the cast of Jessica Jones last February.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Carrie-Anne and Krysten talked about Jeri’s “tumultuous” relationship with Jessica Jones. “They’re not friends but they need each other,” Moss said of the two characters’ relationship.

“They come to each other in these scenes, and there’s a lot of back and forth and bad flirtation at times, in life. They’re funny together and can’t stand each other. It’s interesting.”

Moss also mentions how incredible the writing is for the show and mentions how incredible Krysten looked in her costume for the screen test.

Carrie-Anne Moss might be more known for her role as Trinity, but Moss actually got her career by starting in television. Moss first starred in Dark Justice as Tara McDonald which aired from 1991 to 1993. Ironically, Moss also starred in a series called Matrix in 1993, which has no connection to the movies. Moss starred in a few other TV shows and movies before her big break in The Matrix. Since The Matrix, Moss has also been in other TV series, the most recent shows are Chuck, Vegas, and Crossing Lines. Moss was also the voice of Aria in the Mass Effect video game series. Some notable movies that Moss has appeared in are Memento, Chocolat, and Red Planet.

If you have never heard of Jessica Jones, here is a break-down of the character. In the Marvel comics, Jones has a connection to Peter Parker, aka Spiderman. Jessica Jones is a super-hero who had a bad experience and hangs up her hero shoes to take a job as a private investigator. She seems to be unable to shake the super-hero abilities because she uses them often in her cases but keeps it on the down low. Her investigations also seem to involve people with special abilities, so again she can’t get away from the past that haunts her. Jessica Jones is one of many new Marvel series that are set to air on Netflix. Moss is a great addition to the cast. Marvel has plans to release another series, Luke Cage, next year with Iron Fist to follow. Marvel’s ultimate plan is to cross-over the three series with Daredevil, which aired on Netflix in April. It’s not yet clear how Moss’s character Jeri fits in with the Marvel characters, but Marvel Comics’ male counter-part Jeryn has ties with both Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Moss and the cast of Jessica Jones also attended Comic Con in Paris today.
