South African Male Hitchhiker Attacked By Three Female Rapists

A hitchhiker from Hazyview, South Africa, got more than he bargained for when three women gave him a lift in a BMW car. The three alleged female rapists gave the man a “stimulating” drink and then proceeded to take turns raping him.

Reportedly, this is the fifth incident of this nature in the past few years of female rapists picking up male hitchhikers, and police in Phalaborwa have now warned residents to avoid hitchhiking in the area in case it happens to them.

According to News24, the 31-year-old man told police he was hitchhiking between Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit in Limpopo Province on Monday when the three alleged female rapists, driving a BMW320i car, stopped and picked him up.

Police spokesperson Constable Elvis Mongwe said in a statement that one of the women gave the hitchhiker a soft drink and within three minutes of drinking it, the man experienced a painful erection.

Reportedly, the man was then driven to a quiet, deserted area, where the three women took turns raping him at gunpoint. According to the man, they used no form of protection.

Once the female rapists had finished with him, they reportedly took the man’s cell phone along with R300 (around $22) and dropped him off at Eiland. The victim then made his way to the main road where a motorist picked him up and took him to the nearest police station.

According to Mongwe, the Phalaborwa police have opened a rape case, but no arrests have yet been made. The constable has advised people in the area to use the available public transport in the area and to avoid hitchhiking, as this puts them at risk of being raped, robbed or, even worse, killed.

There have been two similar incidents in the past involving three female rapists driving a BMW car.

In another area of the country in March, a hitchhiker was picked up by three women driving a BMW in Germiston in the East Rand of Gauteng. In that incident, the women demanded money from the man and when he told them he had none, they produced a gun. They then blindfolded the man, took him to a nearby garage and gang-raped him.

In May this year, a man was picked up from the side of the road in Kwazakhele, Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape of South Africa by three women in a BMW car. In a similar way, the man was raped by all three female rapists at gunpoint and he later described his “shock, disbelief and pain” to News24.

Similar incidents involving three female rapists have happened in differing vehicles, in other areas of the country.

Back in January 2008, three female rapists, this time traveling with two men, picked up a 20-year-old hitchhiker in a Toyota Venture vehicle. The man was hitchhiking from Alkmaar to Nelspruit in Mpumalanga at the time. The driver of the vehicle reportedly pulled off the road, after which the two men pulled out firearms and the three women raped the man at gunpoint.

According to IOL, in April 2014 a man was hitchhiking from Gingindlovu, when three women in a Toyota Tazz vehicle stopped to give him a lift. The man said at the time that all three women looked decent and were in their thirties.

“As they were driving, they asked me my name and where I lived. Then the driver turned the car around and they said they wanted to go somewhere first.”

The three women then parked on the side of the road and he was then told to get out of the vehicle at gunpoint. The three female rapists then held the gun to his head as they took turns raping the man.
