Lamar Odom Update: Grisly Details Of Overdose, Cocaine Use Revealed In Search Warrant Application

New and disturbing details of the time spent at a Nevada brothel by Lamar Odom, the former NBA star who married into the Kardashian clan and their reality TV and marketing empire, emerged on Thursday from a police affidavit, in which police explained to a judge why they want to obtain a search warrant to take a sample of Odom’s blood.

The search warrant, which would require probable cause to believe that a crime was committed, was granted, and police did draw blood from Odom. But whatever they found in the 35-year-old’s blood sample has not yet been revealed.

Odom married Khloe Kardashian — at 31, the youngest daughter of family matriarch Kris Kardashian and her late husband, prominent Beverly Hills lawyer Robert Kardashian — in 2009. He quickly became a character in the Kardashian reality TV storylines, even starring with his wife in his own show, Khloe and Lamar, in which the Kardashians frequently riduculed and belittled Odom, even though he had already won the NBA’s prestigious Sixth Man Award in 2011 and back-to-back NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He separated from Khloe Kardashian in 2013, and the couple filed for divorce. But the youngest Kardashian sister has remained at Odom’s side since he arrived at a Las Vegas hospital after being found unconscious at the Love Ranch legal brothel in the Nevada desert.

According to a report by ABC News, police detectives believed that Odom’s collapse was caused by an overdose of cocaine and possibly other drugs as well. In fact, the police affidavit, prostitutes who worked at the “ranch” and who were attending to Odom in his suite there told investigators that they heard Odom snorting cocaine in an adjacent bathroom while they waited for him in the bedroom.

The prostitutes admitted to cops that they had “vague knowledge” that Odom was using illegal drugs during his stay at the desert brothel, Associated Press reported.

In the affidavit, Nye County Sheriff’s Office Detective Michael Eisenloffel stated that when Odom was found unconscious, he had, “a white substance coming from his mouth as well as bleeding from his nose.”

Eisenloffel said that his experience as a detective led him to believe that Odom had overdosed on cocaine, based on those physical symptoms.

“I believe that Mr. Odom may be — or may have been — under the influence of a controlled substance,” Eisenloffel told Nevada Judge Robert Lane in the court affidavit requesting the search warrant for Odom’s blood.

Witnesses at the brothel, the affidavit said, also saw Odom, “ingesting an unknown substance in the form of an unidentified pill, which he obtained from his pocket.”

If police have determined what that pill contained, they have not yet released that information to the public. The police have not said whether they plan to take criminal action against Odom if in fact they confirm that he used cocaine or other illegal drugs at the brothel, but they have not ruled out taking action against the Love Ranch brothel itself.

According to Love Ranch owner Dennis Hof, Odom showed up there on October 10 and spent four days and nearly $80,000 there, mainly on two prostitutes who kept him entertained for much of his stay.

On Wednesday, October 21, Khloe Kardashian acting on Odom’s behalf filed papers to end their two-year-long divorce proceedings, in effect resuming theit marriage. But they also requested that they be allowed to refile the divorce papers some time in the future, raising questions about the Kardashian sister’s motivations in her attendance to Odom through his current ordeal. Because she is still legally Odom’s wife, Khloe Kardashian has maintained control over the medical decisions in Odom’s treatment.

But her continued marriage to Lamar Odom may also have financial consequences for Khloe Kardashian. Hof has said that he plans to attempt to recover the costs of Odom’s aborted stay at Love Ranch, and because she is married to Odom, Khloe Kardashian could be on the hook for nearly eighty grand.
