Reese Witherspoon And Caitlyn Jenner Honored As Women Of The Year, Reese Didn’t Have Interest In Bruce

Glamour Magazine is reportedly ready to crown the year’s remarkable women of the year by giving them the title in their upcoming issue. The publication hasn’t made the official announcement in regard to its December issue which will apparently include the mention of the ladies of recognition. However, the reports are being made that this is in fact the case.

Gossip Cop notes that a source shared details about Reese and Caitlyn being selected for the title which recognizes their impacts over the course of the year. The celebrity site outlines reasons why Witherspoon is the selected candidate.

“For her part, Witherspoon has had a particularly noteworthy year. She was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for Wild, and joined the red carpet movement calling for female stars to be asked better questions, instead of just, ‘Who are you wearing?’ But Witherspoon still showed an interest in clothing, launching Draper James, a retail brand focusing on fashion and décor.”

As for Caitlyn Jenner, the reasons are quite obvious. It has clearly been a big year for Jenner who has transitioned to a woman from a man. The publication reminds that on April 24, then-Bruce Jenner “told Diane Sawyer during an ABC special, ‘My brain is much more female, than it is male… For all intents and purposes I am a woman.’

In addition, Caitlyn then revealed her new form as a woman in a remarkable way by covering Vanity Fair earlier this year. The former Olympic athlete also landed a new E! docuseries based on her journey as a woman and how her life has been altered because of taking the bold step. The series titled I Am Cait also gives insight into how the reality star has worked to help out the transgender community since her own transition.

What’s interesting about these two women of distinction being chosen for the same title is that in the Caitlyn Jenner interview with Vanity Fair, she actually spoke about Reese. Mainly the topic was that Reese Witherspoon wasn’t ever very interested in meeting Bruce Jenner. However, Reese has shown great interest in meeting Caitlyn. The two may finally get that meet-up due to this Glamour Magazine honorary section of their December issue.

Caitlyn Jenner’s docuseries started off strong initially but then was met with mixed reviews and falling viewership part way through the first season. However, the Daily Mail has recently reported that the E! series has been renewed for a second season. The announcement came by way of a tweet by Jenner herself. The publication shares the message tweeted by the star.

“[Caitlyn tweeted] ‘I’m looking forward to continuing the conversation’ and added the hashtag #iamcait.”

The announcement was made on Thursday and to follow it up, E!’s Jeff Olde shared in regard to his thoughts about Caitlyn and the program’s importance.

“Caitlyn’s story has ignited a global conversation on the transgender community on a scale that has never been seen before. We are honored Caitlyn has chosen to continue to share her ongoing evolution with our viewers around the world.”

An air date has not yet been set, but remains one more reason that Jenner deserves the Glamour title in December. She has started an important conversation and shown extreme bravery in going forward on her new journey as a woman.

Gossip Cop has yet to hear back from Glamour to discover as to whether Reese and Caitlyn are the only honorees. Past women who have received this yearly title include Hillary Clinton, Nicole Kidman, Amy Poehler, Serena Williams, Lena Dunham, Laverne Cox, Lady Gaga, and Jennifer Lopez.
