Kylo Ren Is Luke Skywalker? New Theory Claims Skywalker Behind The Mask

With the release of the third trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, speculation began over the disappearance of Luke Skywalker. Skywalker hasn’t been seen in any of the trailers, nor is he on any of the movie posters. A new theory that Luke may have once again moved back towards the dark side and is really character Kylo Ren is making the rounds.

Some critics claim it’s absurd and ridiculous while others offer up reasons why Luke Skywalker may very well be Star Wars’ latest antagonist Kylo Ren. According to Movie Pilot, there are five reasons Skywalker and Ren are really the same person.

The first reason they offered is that it wouldn’t be the first time Luke Skywalker has turned to the dark side. He turned to the dark side in the comic book Dark Empire.

At a roundtable discussion sponsored by Kevin Smith in 2006, Hamill stated he always believed that Luke would turn to the dark side and threaten his family before being redeemed. George Lucas rejected the idea.

Although Adam Driver has been cast as Kylo Ren, he is never seen in any of the posters. In the trailer, Kylo Ren looks at the mask of Darth Vader and says he will finish what he started. Vader’s goal was always to balance the Force.

Mark Hamill is listed second only to Harrison Ford on the movie and movie poster credits. If he were only providing a cameo, he would be listed at the end. Instead, he worked out with a personal trainer to get in shape for the role of Luke Skywalker and then grew a beard for the part.

The Inquisitr reported that there have been many theories as to what plot twists will occur in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the Kylo Ren is really Luke Skywalker is only the latest. Many fans expect to see Han Solo die, and there are rumors that Hayden Christensen will return in Episode 8 to reprise his role as Darth Vader.

Cleveland.com writer Troy L. Smith suggested that the theory of Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren being the same person is ridiculous. He offered a different theory as to why Luke Skywalker is missing in action: Luke is struggling with the dark side of the Force and is keeping himself away from others to avoid harming anyone. Smith used this to explain the reason why Luke Skywalker is noticeably missing from all the promotional materials for the film. According to Smith, it is more likely that Skywalker is Kylo Ren’s master rather than Kylo Ren himself.

In another scene, Adam Driver is seen without the mask and attacking John Boyega’s character Finn. It is clear from the body shots that it is Adam Driver and not Mark Hamill because the body is so thin, and Driver has long hair.

Star Wars fans will have to wait for the premiere of the latest installment to find out who Kylo Ren really is. The movie premieres on December 18, just in time for Christmas. Fans will get to see a return of original cast members Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa-Solo), and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker). Chewbacca, Han Solo’s beloved friend, will join them as well.
