Hillary Clinton Reportedly ‘Devastated’ By Benghazi Attack But Is New Demeanor A Crucial Play To Earn Voters’ Trust?

As of now, Hillary Clinton is ahead in the polls to win the Democratic nomination for the 2016 Presidency. However, her lead is slowly and surely diminishing due to her indecisiveness pertaining to certain situations liberals are passionate about. Ergo, Bernie Sanders – the U.S. senator out of Vermont – has been nipping at Clinton’s heels due to his sudden popularity for his democratic socialistic ideals.

Because of this, Hillary Clinton has taken the initiative to keep her lead in the polls by tackling the biggest hindrance to her campaign, the Benghazi Incident. On September 11, 2012, the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya was attacked by Islamic terrorists which resulted in the death of four people including U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith. The issue with the Benghazi attack was that Clinton (along with President Barack Obama) knew about the attack prior to it happening, but either did nothing or were slow to respond. A lot of these allegations are supposedly proven in Clinton’s Benghazi emails.

To start redeeming any lost credibility pertaining to the Benghazi incident, a new testimony was recently released showing Hillary Clinton in a new light. Apparently, she was “devastated” by the Benghazi attack. But given her stance in the past in accordance to her situation now, is Clinton’s new demeanor simply a crucial play to earn voters’ trust?

According to the Chicago Tribune, Hillary Clinton’s former chief-of-staff, Cheryl Mills, released a testimony on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, showing a different side of Clinton. In it, Clinton was “devastated” about the Benghazi attacks and was “deeply engaged” in ensuring other Americans made it home. The Democrats in the House Benghazi Committee released Mills’ remarks on the matter, a 307-page transcript, right before Clinton made her appearance before the panel. Along with it, they said Republicans were making leaks that were both out-of-context and misleading.

However, some Republicans claim they will not have the wool pulled over their eyes. They believe the new testimony is most likely a means to bolster Hillary Clinton’s chances of winning the Democratic nomination for the 2016 Presidency. Jamal Ware, a spokesman for the committee’s Republican chairman, Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, provided the following pertaining on Clinton’s new testimony.

“This is all about Hillary Clinton and not about the four brave Americans who were killed by terrorists in Benghazi.”

Despite what Republicans might say, Hillary Clinton is still going full-steam and head-first into the lion’s den of the House Benghazi Committee. Washington Times reports how Clinton handles herself could go a long way toward shaping the view Americans have of her, gaining their trust that she’ll do well in the White House. Even some Republicans believe such could happen as long as Clinton is honest.

“People are quite curious as to which Hillary is going to show up. My hope on behalf of those families that lost loved ones and our men and women in uniform who go out every day to defend us around the globe, is that she will be honest with the committee.”

Most likely, Hillary Clinton’s new testimony will not chime in on any of the theories made pertaining to how the former Secretary of State handled Benghazi as it was happening. No new evidence was introduced to add legitimate potency to them. These includes theories that Clinton ordered the military to “stand down” during the U.S. Embassy’s siege or that she personally denied Christopher Stevens’ request for more security prior to the attack.
