Nina Dobrev Teases New Film Role And Reveals Her New Look

Nina Dobrev made the announcement that she would be leaving The Vampire Diaries as the latter half of Season 6 was airing and the series is now into Season 7, while little has been heard of Dobrev, professionally. There has certainly been more than enough coverage of Nina attending charity events, awards ceremonies, and vacationing in Saint-Tropez with her new beau, Austin Stowell, but no word on what Dobrev might be eyeing for her next career move. Until now.

Ms. Dobrev revealed that she is involved in a new film project, but since there hasn’t yet been any official announcement, Nina was reluctant to give any details. The former Vampire Diaries star did mention that the role would involve a makeover, including a haircut that would do away with the long locks for which Dobrev has become so recognizable.

According to Latin Post, Ms. Dobrev wants to expand her range as an actress and has been looking for roles that would test her endurance and really push her beyond her safety zone.

“I’d rather wait for something really good — to be excited about a role, or a director, or a project. I’m not just going to accept something because it’s a lot of money,” Nina Dobrev said. “I’m an artist; content is incredibly important to me… I don’t just want to do things that are the pretty girl with lots of makeup, I want to get into the gritty stuff and get down and dirty and dark and really feed my soul and not my vanity.”

Looking to others for inspiration, Nina has cited Audrey Hepburn and Cate Blanchett as inspirations, but also looks to a younger role model, Jennifer Lawrence, for the “humility, charisma, intelligence, and humor” that The Hunger Games actress embodies.

The World According To Nina

Ms. Dobrev took some time from her newly busy schedule to bestow some advice to her fans and to young girls in particular, telling them to make sure they enjoy life and make an effort to be carefree. Nina also suggested that people should focus on following their own hearts and pay little attention to the opinions of others.

“It’s what matters to you and what you believe in and what makes you happy and what makes you smile that will get you through the day” Ms. Dobrev said, according to International Business Times. “So don’t be affected by other people’s opinions because everyone will have an opinion and you can never appease everyone—I have to remind myself of that daily.”

It seems Ms. Dobrev has taken the time to look back on her years in television, regretting the time spent there or perhaps, more accurately, regretting the amount of time she has previously spent working. It is certainly an easy trap to fall into for anyone, spending more time at work than enjoying one’s personal life, and Nina seems to have experienced it herself.

Dobrev suggested that youth shouldn’t be taken for granted, warning the young girls following her that they should take full advantage of their youth and use it to travel and experience new things.

“You’ll look back and regret it later,” 26-year-old Nina Dobrev said. “If you don’t take advantage of your youth and your ability to travel. And it gives you something to pull from and inspiration to play your characters, and for your life and your development as a human being.”

Ms. Dobrev is set to star in the Peter Hutchings drama Arrivals, which also stars Maisie Williams and Asa Butterfield.
