Renée Zellweger Reported To Be Filming ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ In Los Angeles

Renée Zellweger, who is reported to be in Los Angeles, filming for her upcoming Bridget Jones sequel, appears to be delighted with the project’s progress and reuniting with crew members who she holds dear.

“People do stop me in the streets to ask me about Bridget Jones,” Zellweger was quoted about her film. “They ask me about it a lot, and it makes me smile because I love the character.”

Renée Zellweger got her start over 20 years ago as a girl “holding a beer funnel” in Dazed and Confused, a coming-of-age film that deals with high school tensions, teenage angst, and the class struggle within Austin, Texas, in the 1970s, reports the Daily Beast.

Zellweger parlayed the Dazed and Confused exposure into roles in 1994’s Reality Bites and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, among other films, according to IMDb.

Through the late 1990s, Zellweger worked non-stop appearing in films like Me, Myself & Irene, The Bachelor, and The Whole Wide World.

The actor’s big break came in 2001, when she was chosen to star in the role that would come to define her career. Bridget Jones’s Diary, at least partly, would come to cause Rene Zellweger to forever be closely identified with the Bridget Jones character.

Bridget Jones’s Diary became a wildly popular film and franchise. Opening weekend box office figures were a respectable $10.7 million in the United States. The film’s budget was estimated to be $26,000, according to IMDb. No one could have predicted what a sleeper hit and classic the film would become. One estimate has the film grossing $281 million worldwide.

Bridget Jones’s Diary was followed by Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason in 2004. Edge of Reason had a bigger budget than Diary at a reported $40 million, says IMDb. Its opening weekend saw $8.7 million in box office receipts and the Edge of Reason has been reported to have grossed $263 million worldwide.

Keeping up the same packed work schedule she kept up through the ’90s, Zellweger has averaged at least one film per year, more than 10 in total, in the decade that has passed since Edge of Reason was released.

Bridget Jones’s Baby is scheduled to be released in the United States on September 16, 2016.

Rene Zellweger is joined in the latest Bridget Jones film by former cast members Sally Phillips and Colin Firth. Firth got his start with television mini-series and has appeared in dozens of television shows, series, and films. Sally Phillips, born in 1970, has also appeared in dozens of television and film productions.

In addition to Bridget Jones’s Baby, two other Zellweger films are in production and scheduled for release. The Whole Truth is expected before the end of 2015, according to IMDb, and Same Kind of Different as Me, filmed in Jackson, Mississippi, is due in April 2016.

With Zellweger, it always seems to be about work, or preparing to do more work still.

“I just went and had a really fun day on the set, and then I went to do some more other homework,” Zellweger was quoted as stating about her first days filming in Los Angeles.

Rene Zellweger is also noted for her roles in Cinderella Man, Jerry Maguire, and Chicago, among other titles. Zellweger is 46 years old and was born in Texas. She is reported to be in a relationship with musician Doyle Bramhall II, according to ABC. She has been engaged to Jim Carrey, according to Zimbio, and once dated Jack White, according to People. Zellweger was also briefly married to Kenny Chesney, reports USA Today.
