'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 — Josh Duhamel, Ioan Gruffudd And Patrick Wilson To Guest Star

Season 12 of Grey's Anatomy continues to feature a number of big changes to the hit medical drama. Not only does this season center on a lighter story following the death of Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) last season, but it is also pushing its characters in new directions and is set to introduce a number of new characters along the way.

In fact, according to Design & Trend, Shonda Rhimes is setting this season up to be more like the first few season of the show, with new characters being introduced, and everyone trying to find their place with each other.

This is clearly seen with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), who finds herself living with Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) in the new season. Although she has suffered a lot of tragic losses in the past few years, Meredith's storyline so far has been fairly humorous and light, which is in stark contrast to last year.

In addition to Meredith adjusting to her new life without Derek, the show is expected to introduce a number of exciting new characters this season. Although some of these new faces will not be around for long, they should help infuse a bit of life back into the series after a tragedy filled season 11.

With that in mind, TV Line is reporting that Josh Duhamel, Ioan Gruffudd, and Patrick Wilson are all set to appear on the show at some point this season. While little is known about their characters, it is great to see the show adding so many new faces. Furthermore, fans are sure to be excited to see more male characters debuted on the show, which might spark a few romances here and there.

At the same time, Duhamel is also known for his work on TV and on film. Duhamel has appeared most notably on two shows; All my Children and Crossing Jordan. As far as his movies are concerned, Duhamel was recently in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, New Year's Eve, and Life As We Know It. The actor is expected to guest star in one installment of Grey's Anatomy this season.

That being said, it is possible that one of them will be introduced as a new love interest for Meredith, although that likely won't happen for a while now. Whatever roles they end up playing, it is hoped that they will each stick around for more than just a few episodes as the show continues to develop this season.

Meanwhile, there are a number of other guest stars that will be introduced this season. These include the like of Kris Polaha, Eric Mabius, Omar Epps, Matthew Goode, Scott Speedman, and Jay Hernandez. Again, details concerning their various parts are unknown at this time.

Fans can catch all of these new faces when Grey's Anatomy airs Thursday nights on ABC.
