There are many reasons that people boycott things, but the latest one may be one of the strangest and weirdest yet. White supremacists are essentially trolling social media due to the fact that there is an African-American actor playing the role of a Stormtrooper in the Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens coming out in December. With that, they have created the #BoycottStarWarsVII hashtag, and it is quite interesting.
As reported by the International Business Times, Monday is a huge day for Star Wars fans everywhere, as a brand new poster was revealed and a new trailer will be dropping during Monday Night Football this evening. Everyone is awaiting all the good times before The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18.
With that being said, not everyone can be happy, and it has brought about a lot of negativity on Twitter most of all. The #BoycottStarWarsVII hashtag has started trending, and the people who started it are arguing that the new movie won’t be true to the original trilogy.
They believe the film shouldn’t be watched by anyone because “the lead character is black” and even claim it to be “anti-white.” Others have taken it a step further and believe that it actually “promotes white genocide.”
#BoycottStarWarsVII If white people aren’t wanted in Star Wars, then our money must not be either.

This has led to a boycott of the film due to the fact British actor John Boyega is featured prominently in the trailers and poster. The 23-year-old actor is playing the role of Finn, a new character in the Star Wars universe.
It is kind of odd that the trolls are coming out of nowhere now, as Boyega has been featured in just about every single bit of promotional material for the film since it began. It’s also odd that less white people on screen obviously means “white genocide.”
#BoycottStarWarsVII because white children deserve wholesome movies, not more PC anti-white diversity crap.

The Mary Sue has made some very good points that a lot of people are making on social media to fire back at the #BoycottStarWarsVII supporters.
As expected, the trolling has brought forth responses from everyone else on the internet, and they’re making some incredibly valid points. Yes, a number of face characters were white, but many non-white actors played major roles in the first Star Wars movies.

There is Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Mace Windu, Lando Calrissian, and a host of others, but for some reason, that’s not being addressed by those focusing on the boycott.
Racial diversity has been brought up before regarding Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, and director J.J. Abrams had to touch on it then too. He was questioned about the diverse cast and said he deliberately went to change things in the industry and genre to have the cast more well-rounded.
“We wrote these characters but when we went to cast it, one of the things I had felt, having been to the Emmy’s a couple times — you look around that room and you see the whitest f*****g room in the history of time. It’s just unbelievably white. And I just thought, we’re casting this show and we have an opportunity to do anything we want, why not cast the show with actors of color?”
All you have to do is head to Twitter and search for the #BoycottStarWarsVII hashtag to see there is a lot of insanity happening right now, and that’s from supporters and those opposing it. When the new trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens drops on Monday night, it’s going to deliver a whole lot of new reactions, but it’s hard to believe one is white genocide.
