Lamar Odom Is Texting And Talking After Passing Critical Swallow Test, Gets Out Of Bed For The First Time
Lamar Odom is on his way to recovery, with reports indicating that the former NBA star passed a critical swallow test. The athlete was removed from his ventilator on Friday night and is said to be breathing on his own. It was also reported that Odom had gotten out of bed and sat in a nearby chair as those around him note that he appears to be “heading in the right direction.” Meanwhile his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian has remained by his side since learning about his collapse at the Love Ranch brothel in Las Vegas.
The Daily Mail reports that Lamar Odom is showing some strong signs of recovery as reports indicate the former NBA player passed a critical swallow test. In addition to passing the swallow test, Odom also got out of bed for the first time. E! News claims that Lamar was assisted out of his bed into a nearby chair as his health appears to be progressing. Those close to Odom say that the hospital watched for signs of distress as he was being moved and noted none. However, though Odom is breathing on his own without the assistance of a ventilator, he is still wearing an oxygen mask to help increase the flow of oxygen to his body.
Other reports note that Odom has said a few words since being admitted to the hospital, and he allegedly spoke to Khloe Kardashian saying “hey baby” before falling back asleep. Though he is having difficulty speaking, he is said to be communicating well with hand signals such as thumbs up and thumbs down. He is also allegedly communicating via text message. Odom has continued to try to communicate with those in the hospital, but most of his speech is currently referred to as mumbles, and it is easier for him to communicate with gestures and through written messages.
However, a report by the LA Times indicates Odom’s speech may be improving as a source claims he is now able to “speak sentences.”
Though Lamar Odom is showing great sings of improvement, sources say he still has a long road to recovery, with doctors still checking for possible brain damage and kidney damage from the incident. The hospital stay took place after Odom was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel owned by the nefarious self-proclaimed pimp Dennis Hof, who claims to have slept with over 4,000 women while “trying out” his brothel workers.
Odom was found unconscious in the VIP suite of the Love Ranch by the two prostitutes he paid $75,000 for four days of services. The prostitutes, Ryder Cherry and Monica Monroe, immediately called for help from the brothel manager TJ Moore, a former nurse. Moore says the brothel called 911 and she turned the basketball player on his side to help clear his passageways while they waited for emergency crews to arrive.
Odom was subsequently taken to the hospital, where Khloe Kardashian flew to his bedside. Kardashian and Odom have been separated for some time; however, their divorce has yet to be finalized. Rumors report that, following the harrowing incident, Kardashian is reconsidering the divorce and is remaining by her husband’s side as he struggles to regain his health.
