Fans of India cricket can watch live online as their team battles South Africa to get the advantage in their five-match, One Day International series, after finally getting into the win column in the epic, 10-week South Africa tour of India after losing both T20 matches and the first ODI. A third T20 was washed out by inclement weather — but the two powerhouse cricket nations still have three ODI games and four Test Matches ahead of them before the tour wraps up on December 7.
There may be one complication with the third ODI, however. The match is set to be played at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, a city of about 1.3 million in the central India state of Gujarat — and a political activist based in the region has threatened a protest, blocking the two teams from entering the stadium.
Hardik Patel, a charismatic, 22-year-old political leader of the Patidar caste has claimed that India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party scooped up almost all of the available tickets for the match, in a move designed to keep his own supporters out.
Gujarat state authorities are taking no chances, deploying 2,000 police officers to circle the stadium, in order to keep a clear path for players and fans to get inside and play the match on Sunday.
To find out how to watch the third India vs. South Africa ODI cricket match live online, see the streaming info at the bottom of this article. Start of play is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. India Standard Time at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, India. Cricket fans in the United States should log on to the live stream at 4 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, 1 a.m. Pacific on Sunday, October 18.
On the actual cricket field, India Captain M.S. Dhoni (pictured at the top of this page) managed to redeem himself after taking a beating in the country's press over his usage of the India bowlers, as well as for his own struggles at the bat.
Dhoni slammed and slashed his way to an impressive score of 92 and seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar took three wickets for just 41 runs with a stingy economy rate of 4.73 to lead the bowling attack. India held on for a 22-run victory, bowling out South Africa in 43.4 overs, despite being setting what appeared to be a reachable target for the Proteas of 248.
South Africa Captain A.B. de Villiers was critical of his team's batting performance, noting that "most of the dismissals were pretty soft." The captain himself — generally acknowledged as the world's best current batsman — was caught out by Virat Kohli after just 20 balls and 19 runs, with Mohit Sharma taking his wicket.
