NFL Expert Picks For Week 6 : ESPN, NFL Network, ‘Sports Illustrated,’ CBS — Patriots Heavily Favored Over Colts

With one game in the books for Week 6 in the NFL, the experts have all of their picks out and ready for the rest of the games. It’s hard to have a lot of faith in the NFL expert picks because anything can happen and, sometimes, they’re just dead wrong. Still, someone has to do it, so here are the NFL picks for Week 6 from ESPN, CBS, Sports Illustrated, and more.

Thursday Night Football started things off in Week 6 with the New Orleans Saints upsetting the Atlanta Falcons 31-21. This was a big surprise, considering the Falcons were 5-0 going into the game, and the Saints had played nothing like their former selves so far this season.

Hardly any one of the NFL experts had the Saints winning on Thursday night. Only Dave Richard from CBS Sports had the Saints winning and only Chris Mortensen from ESPN. This goes to show you that every win counts and any team can beat any other team.

Week 6 brings about a number of games that seem to have overwhelming favorites more than in past weeks. There are a few who are flip-flopping, but looking through every major media outlet’s picks, the New England Patriots are on the path to staying undefeated and so are the Denver Broncos.

Actually, when looking through all the expert picks across multiple sites, there is not one single person that believes the Indianapolis Colts will defeat the Patriots. As for the Broncos, only one expert (John Breech from CBS) believes the Cleveland Browns will beat the Broncos.

The experts from CBS Sports have some pretty good records on the season with all of them actually having a mark over .500 through five weeks. That’s not too bad, but Dave Richard, the only person to take Saints over Falcons, is the only one with +50 correct picks so far. All picks have the majority favorite listed first.

  • Minnesota Vikings over Kansas City Chiefs
  • Detroit Lions over Chicago Bears
  • Cincinnati Bengals over Buffalo Bills
  • New York Jets vs. Washington Redskins
  • Miami Dolphins over Tennessee Titans
  • Arizona Cardinals over Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Denver Broncos over Cleveland Browns
  • Jacksonville Jaguars over Houston Texans
  • Seattle Seahawks over Carolina Panthers
  • Green Bay Packers over San Diego Chargers
  • San Francisco 49ers over Baltimore Ravens
  • New England Patriots over Indianapolis Colts
  • New York Giants over Philadelphia Eagles

Over at ESPN, the experts see things a bit differently than CBS’ crop of experts do. The most notable differences are that those at ESPN favor the Bears, Titans, Texans, and Eagles with the majority picks, but those games could really go either way.

  • Minnesota Vikings over Kansas City Chiefs
  • Chicago Bears over Detroit Lions
  • Cincinnati Bengals over Buffalo Bills
  • New York Jets vs. Washington Redskins
  • Tennessee Titans over Miami Dolphins
  • Arizona Cardinals over Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Denver Broncos over Cleveland Browns
  • Houston Texans over Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Seattle Seahawks over Carolina Panthers
  • Green Bay Packers over San Diego Chargers
  • San Francisco 49ers over Baltimore Ravens
  • New England Patriots over Indianapolis Colts
  • Philadelphia Eagles over New York Giants

Over at NFL.com, Elliot Harrison makes his picks for the NFL games in Week 6, and while some picks were easy to make (Patriots, Broncos, Jets), there were some that weren’t quite so simple. It looks like Harrison believes the Carolina Panthers will suffer their first loss this season, and thanks to the Seattle Seahawks.

Harrison does also believe that the Detroit Lions will get their first victory of the season in a win over the Chicago Bears. He was yet another NFL expert though that had the Falcons defeating the Saints on Thursday night.

Sports Illustrated has much of the same as everyone else does with their expert picks for Week 6 as well. Don Banks has four of the remaining undefeated teams staying that way, and it’s the Carolina Panthers that he has falling to the Seattle Seahawks.

Week 6 is going to be an interesting one in the NFL, as there are those games that are clear and easy picks while others can go either way. The NFL experts have made their selections and that still gives everyone time to make their choices or even place some bets.
