Lawrence Vickers, Cowboys Fullback, Attacked by Ants During Practice

ESPN is reporting that Dallas Cowboys fullback Lawrence Vickers was forced to leave his team’s practice session this Wednesday due to a not-too-common problem — had ants in his pants, literally.

Vickers recalled the bizarre incident to Fox Sports:

“I was doing the play,” Vickers said. “I was running, and I was blocking someone. Then I walk off, and I’m like, ‘Oh snap.’ And I pulled my pants down to see, and I saw ants.”

While having a couple ants in your pants may seem like no big deal to most, Vickers, who signed with the Cowboys as a free agent after being released by the Texans this off-season, is allergic to the insects. Being bit, in his case, is no laughing matter.

“I was trying not to squeeze myself in front of women out there,” the fullback said of the incident. “I wanted to pull my pants down and run inside, but I couldn’t do that. When those ants get close to those testicles, there ain’t no laughing about that.”

Following the attack, Vickers said he rushed to the locker room, washed off and took a Benadryl quick.

He added:

“Ants are nothing to play with. The smallest things on earth is the most dangerous thing to me.”

Despite the strangeness of the entire ordeal, NFL.com reports this isn’t the first time that ants have invaded Vickers’ pants this year. Four months ago, he was stretching out in a grassy area when he was stung by the critters, swelled up and had trouble breathing.

“I was wheezing, and I had to drive myself to a CVS to get some medicine,” he said.

Lawrence Vickers said he now carries an EpiPen (a hand-held injection device used to fight off allergic reactions) as a precaution for future insect attacks.
