Lamar Odom: Five Updates About His Condition

Lamar Odom is still in critical condition in a Las Vegas hospital. The NBA alum was found unresponsive in a Nevada brothel on the 10th, and while his closest friends and family have been mum on the details, rumor has it he’s in very bad shape this afternoon. When word first broke about Lamar Odom’s condition, the details and facts were few and far between. Now the public is getting more information as the athlete’s name and situation flood social media and news outlets.

5. It’s believed that Lamar has suffered at least one stroke.

When the news first broke that Lamar was found unconscious/unresponsive in a rural Nevada brothel, rumors were rampant about what caused his condition. In a 911 call, it was revealed that Odom had been using an herbal male-enhancement supplement (herbal “Viagra” it’s been dubbed) and was found foaming at the mouth and with blood possibly coming from his nose. The Dishh is now reporting that Lamar Odom is being treated for an overdose and is believed to have suffered at least one ischemic stroke. Some outlets are reporting Odom has suffered multiple strokes and even organ failure, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

Ischemic strokes are the result of blood clots preventing blood flow to the brain. Lamar Odom, who is known to have a past history of drug abuse, is rumored to have been using cocaine days prior to his hospitalization, CNN reports. Whether or not he had illegal drugs in his system at the time of his hospitalization is currently unknown to the public. The local police department obtained a search warrant to test his blood. The results of the police department’s tests aren’t expected for weeks, but reportedly the hospital is treating him for an “overdose.”

4. Khloe Kardashian is still Lamar Odom’s wife.

Despite a very public split, the divorce of Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian was never finalized. This makes her his next of kin and gives her the legal ability to make medical decisions on his behalf. There have been numerous reports that the ex Laker may have suffered brain damage, and medical decisions at this point could very well be life and death choices.

Lamar is still on life support, and depending upon the severity and nature of his brain injury, Khloe could have some devastating choices to make in the weeks and even days to come.

3. Lamar Odom was cited in the past for soliciting prostitution.

This isn’t the first time Lamar Odom has been connected to prostitution. In 1997, the then-17-year-old was cited for soliciting a prostitute, the Times Review reported. Back in ’97, Odom was a mere recruit. This time around, he kept his solicitation legal. The Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada, is one of the state’s legal brothels, and has been featured on HBO.

It’s been reported that Odom was found unresponsive by one of the facility’s girls.

Regardless of his marital issues with his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian, Lamar is reportedly surrounded by the entire Kardashian clan. Khloe dropped everything and rushed to his bedside when she heard the news. The pair publicly courted and broadcast both their budding relationship and eventual separation on reality TV. The couple was involved in Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Khloe & Lamar.

“I will never, ever not love Lamar. I was so obsessed with him in a healthy way. He was my husband, and I still wish he was.”

Despite some serious rockiness, Khloe has repeatedly and publicly proclaimed her continued love for her estranged husband. Their divorce cited irreconcilable differences. Lamar’s Kardashian support doesn’t stop at Khloe, either. Her entire family has visited the hospital, taken to social media to ask for prayers, and even continued to call Odom “brother.”

1. Lamar Odom’s getting famous support.

The response to Lamar’s hospitalization has been overwhelmingly supportive. Even though the athlete and reality TV star was found in a brothel, and even though it’s suspected he might have been doing illegal drugs, not many are rushing to judgement. Piers Morgan put his foot ruthlessly into his mouth and blamed Khloe and her clan for Odom’s current state, but most of his inner circle have stayed positive and supportive in the wake of the tragedy.

“There can’t be many more pitiful, humiliating ways to potentially end your life than face down in an infamous Nevada brothel, vomiting uncontrollably from the overdose of herbal Viagra you took to keep up with myriad prostitutes during a four day binge. As I write, Lamar Odom is clinging on. He’s in a coma, distraught family and friends at his bedside. But his dignity and reputation are already dead, shredded at the altar of reality television.”

This is the time for fans to show their love and support and not to pass judgement. No matter the struggles and demons Lamar Odom previously faced in his life (and they were reportedly many, something he never denied), the negativity at this point is useless and possibly even harmful. No matter what you might think of brothels, cocaine, reality TV or the Kardashians, now is the time for fans to send prayers and/or best vibes to Lamar Odom.
