Danica McKellar Files For Divorce From Mike Verta


Danica McKellar, who played Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years, has just filed for divorce from her husband Mike Verta.

According to TMZ, Danica and Verta separated last week. The actress filed papers at the L.A. County Superior Court citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for her divorce.

Danica and Verta have been married since March 2009. They have a one-year-old son together.

During her pregnancy, McKellar said:

“When you see the baby and the heartbeat on the ultrasound, it’s so incredible. Me and Mike looked at each other and we could not stop the tears… We are so happy.”

The actress said that she hopes to have joint physical and legal custody of the child.

Danica said:

“I am saddened by the end of my marriage to Mike Verta. However, we are committed to raising our son together and we are focused on remaining the best parents we can be.”

According to TV Guide, the couple signed a pre-nup before the wedding.

Danicka McKellar is best known as Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years but she’s had quite a few roles since then. McKellar’s has recently done voice work on shows like G.I. Joe Renegades and Young Justice. She will also be appearing in a new TV movie, Tasmanian Devils.
