Brain Dead? Lamar Odom Reportedly Suffered Multiple Strokes & Is Being Treated For An ‘Overdose,’ Given 50/50 Chance Of Survival
Will Lamar Odom be brain dead if pulls out of his current health crisis? Since Odom was hospitalized in Las Vegas on Tuesday, there have been multiple reports regarding his current state, some which claim the former professional basketball player suffered a heart attack, and others that allege he endured multiple strokes during his time at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch.
Either way, Odom could be brain dead as a result of his alleged overdose.

“Likely there’s brain damage, but they’re not sure how much. Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system,” a source told E! News on October 14 of Odom possibly being brain dead.
The site went on to reveal that while it is unclear what doctors will be doing to try to prevent Odom being brain dead, they are currently treating his situation as they would an overdose. Currently, Odom is unconscious and on a ventilator, but despite many online rumors, he is still very much alive and fighting.
During his time at the Love Ranch, Odom reportedly took 10 pills of an herbal substitute for Viagra, and prior to being found by two women who worked at the Ranch, Odom was believed to have either suffered from a loss of oxygen, or endured an “ischemic stroke,” which E! News described as a stroke that “is caused by [a] blood clot preventing blood flow to the brain.” According to the site, ischemic strokes are often associated with a cocaine overdose, or an overdose on other drugs.
“[Odom] had been partying since Friday. He was doing crack cocaine all weekend and he choked on his mucous. They’re now having to fix all the damage it has done.”
On October 14, a source revealed the following to People, failing to mention any details regarding whether or not he is brain dead, or soon will be.
“Lamar is still fighting. It’s a waiting game right now. The first 48 hours will tell a lot… It’s so sad and the situation is unimaginable. Before Khloé got to the hospital she was inconsolable and now she just wants to be by his side. The Kardashians are his family.”
As rumors swirl regarding the possibility of Odom being brain dead, the Kardashian family, including his ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian, have rushed to his bedside. On Tuesday, just two hours after TMZ reported that Odom had been discovered unconscious, Khloe, her sister, Kim, and her mother, Kris Jenner, traveled to Las Vegas, where they are currently with Odom.
Prior to the brain dead reports, Odom had been found by two women at the Love Ranch, where he had been partying for a number of days with a group of women. Once the women discovered Odom’s state, they immediately called 911, and reported that there was mucus flowing out of his nose and mouth. Odom was taken from the Ranch to the hospital via ambulance, and later transported to a second hospital, the Sunrise Hospital, where he is currently being treated. Odom was first expected to be airlifted to the second hospital, but due to his 6’10” frame, paramedics were unable to do so.

While Jesse Jackson recently visited with Odom and claimed the possibly brain dead athlete showed signs of responsiveness, other sources have denied claims, and given him a 50/50 chance of survival due to his failing organs. With each failing organ, doctors reportedly explained, Odom’s chance of survival gets slimmer and slimmer.
