Amanda Bynes Back In School, Taking Classes At FIDM

Like most college students, Amanda Bynes is heading back to school this time of the year. The former Nickelodeon star is taking classes at FIDM, according to recent reports. But Amanda is not like regular college students, as she has had a rough five years since retiring from acting and stepping her foot into fashion.

Amanda Bynes is continuing her studies at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. The family’s attorney, Tamar Arminak, gave the update about the former actress to Page Six.

“We are all so proud of her, and can’t wait to see her amazing designs on the runway someday.”

The 29-year-old is reportedly cutting old friends out of her life and staying off social media, as she focuses on stepping her foot into the fashion industry. Earlier this year, Bynes attended the black-tie gala with Project Runway alum Michael Costello, who also spoke to Page Six about the tabloid star. It was her first public appearance in over a year.

“She knows what she’s doing when she’s sketching. It’s nice that she has a true passion for it and it’s not a hobby.”

The designer said that Amanda is ready to make her debut in the fashion world. He also complimented the troubled child star on her hard work and sense of style.

“I think her strong point is when she’s designing for someone like herself – a girl on the go. She’s always either going to castings or a cocktail party or a gala or fundraiser. She likes to design for the jetsetter and the everyday girl, too.”

Amanda Bynes was previously enrolled at FIDM’s campus in Orange County in January, 2014. An inside source told E! News that she was “originally going to be a fashion design major, but has now decided to pursue merchandise product development.”

Amanda was enrolled at FIDM in July, 2014, but she didn’t attend classes during the school’s summer break. On her Twitter account, she expressed interests about returning back to New York by the fall of 2014. She tweeted that she would either transfer to “NYU or Columbia” after it was rumored that she was kicked out of FIDM. But students claim that Amanda never acted out in classes. But then, Amanda was temporarily placed under a 5150 hold after allegedly shoplifting at Barneys in New York and making remarks about her father allegedly sexually and physically abusing her as a child.

Now that Bynes is back on track, she can focus on making her mark in fashion once again. This isn’t the first time that the She’s The Man star has shown an interest in fashion. In fact, Bynes debuted her very first clothing line at Steve & Barry’s in 2007. The limited-edition collection was called “dear by Amanda Bynes,” which included t-shirts, hoodies, sweaters, and jeans for less than $20 each.

When she was acting out erratically on Twitter in 2012, she then expressed interest in launching her own clothing line. She even spoke to People magazine about her career moves on the telephone. Amanda said to the magazine that she had intentions to move to New York to start her fashion career. During the interview, she refused to speak out about her DUI arrest because she claims the reports weren’t true. Around that time, she tweeted about her love for Drake and interests in releasing a rap album.

Amanda started pursuing an interest again in fashion when she announced that she was retiring from acting on June, 2010, on her now-infamous Twitter account. She said that she didn’t feel any passion for the craft anymore. Amanda made the announcement shortly before the release of Easy A, in which she plays a Christian high school student alongside star Emma Stone.

But then a month later, Bynes took to Twitter to say that she was only joking about retiring from acting. Easy A remains her most recent film.

It looks like Amanda is not going to star in a Hollywood movie anytime soon. But it’s good to see that the troubled starlet is doing well in the other areas of her life. Do you think Amanda Bynes will become successful in the fashion industry? Share your thoughts below in the comments section.
