One Direction: Zayn Malik Quitting Was ‘A Good Thing’

One Direction stars Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson popped into ITV‘s Good Morning Britain TV studio this morning and lifted the lid on how the band felt about Zayn Malik walking out on them. The boys also made it crystal clear that they have absolutely no idea as to when, or if, One Direction will reform. As every One Direction fan knows, former band-mate Zayn Malik walked out of the early stages of One Direction’s “On The Road Again,” tour saying that he was suffering from stress. Just days later Malik broke the hearts of millions of One Direction fans when he announced that he was quitting the band for good.

Until now One Direction have largely kept their views on Malik’s departure to themselves, but, this morning, Payne and Tomlinson made it clear that they believed that Malik’s departure was the best thing for him and for One Direction. Liam was quick to praise One Direction’s loyal fans, and both he and Louis gave the impression that they harbored absolutely no hard feelings towards Zayn. The Mirror reports that, instead, Payne explained that One Direction was never a good fit for Malik and his departure worked out well for everyone.

“One Direction was never Zayn’s kind of bag if you know what I mean. His taste in music was always a bit different, which I guess is what kind of drove him to do what he did in the end – which is not necessarily a bad thing.”

Payne was keen to point out the important role that One Direction fans played in the time after Zayn walked out. It is obvious that One Direction value the support that they had from fans in the difficult days following Malik’s departure. Liam intimated that the fans helped One Direction to recover from what he describes as “a disastrous situation.”

“Everyone has come out fine from it thanks to our beautiful fans. Zayn is doing what he loves as well. I think both parties are winners in the end after a disastrous situation. So it’s all good.”

As any One Direction fan knows, the group were formed on Simon Cowell’s TV show X-Factor back in 2010. As reported in Inquisitr earlier this week, the show had some controversy over the weekend when contestant Mason Noise was kicked off the show after a row with Cowell. One Direction were asked about their views on the matter and it is clear that they were not impressed. Liam said that there is a point in your career when you can speak up, but Noise has clearly not reached that point.

“If you are Kanye West you can say what the hell you want. When you are trying to climb the ladder you don’t come out shouting ‘yeah, I’m the best’.”

Louis added his voice saying that Noise’s “argument was just pretty pathetic. What is stupid about that is that he would definitely have had a chair.”

It is pretty clear that One Direction were not impressed by Noise’s antics.

One Direction have just completed three nights of shows in Birmingham and the end of their tour is fast approaching. The boys now head off to Ireland for three shows in Dublin and three in Belfast. One Direction then return to England to wrap up the tour with three nights in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and finally three nights in Sheffield.

One Direction have been on the road since February, and, after four massive world tours in as many years, it is certain that they will be looking forward to a well-deserved rest.
