‘Sister Wives’ Past Money Secrets Revealed, Including Debt, Monthly Income

The Brown family of Sister Wives has been dealing with drama lately, and now information is being revealed about their past financial problems. Obviously, Kody Brown and his four wives need a lot of money to take care of their 17 children. Radar Online revealed the Brown family has a few issues with finances that they have been able to keep quiet. Back in June of 2005, Meri and Kody filed for bankruptcy before they were in the spotlight. The Brown family was broke, and things were just not getting better for them.

At the time they filed for bankruptcy, the Brown family hadn’t added in Robyn Brown or her three children. They have even had more kids since then and have had to find a way to support them. When they filed, Kody and Meri Brown said they only had $15 to their name. They had five bank accounts, but they were all basically empty. The Brown family had a lot of debts, though. They owed $229,873.49 to different creditors, including a loan on their home in Montana, car loans, and $40,000 in credit card debt. They had borrowed money from Best Buy, Sears, and more. Kody Brown had several debt collectors trying to get the money from him.

When the bankruptcy happened, Kody Brown was making $4,000 a month, and Meri was making only $625 a month. The thing is they don’t mention what the other two wives were making because they didn’t have to be named in the court dockets. Janelle Brown has always shared that she prefers to work instead of taking care of the children and is one of the big breadwinners for this family.

However, the Brown family wasn’t able to get out of paying off all of this debt. When the Brown’s settled their bankruptcy, they were told to pay $187,885.74 of the loans and debt back. Kody Brown had to work hard to find something that would bring in more income, and it looks like Sister Wives is doing that for this family.

Kody Brown and his four wives are currently doing great with their reality television show and their business, My Sisterwife’s Closet. They recently bought four new homes in Las Vegas and were able to get financing on all of it. It is obvious that Kody Brown has turned things around.

In Touch Weekly shared that things are getting worse for Meri Brown after news came out that she was catfished by a woman who was pretending to be a man. The two ended up having an online relationship, and then someone leaked everything to the press. The Brown family has been standing by Meri despite the voicemails she left the person she thought was Sam, during which she revealed her unhappiness with the marriage. Here is what one of her voice mails revealed.

“Baby, where are you? What’s going in? I don’t know what happened. I don’t know why you’re not answering. I don’t know why you won’t text me back. I don’t know why you hung up on me. You don’t need to run from me, okay baby? I’m here. I’m not going anywhere. I love you. Call me back. Love you.”
