Horrifying Video Of Friends Speeding To Their Death Released By Families – Final Moments Of Michael Owen And Kyle Careford Captured

A horrifying video showing two friends speeding to their deaths on a drug-fueled joyride has been released for the world to see. The families of Michael Owen and Kyle Careford have released the video as a message to others in the hope they won’t make the same mistakes that took the lives of the two young men.

The Daily Mail reports that the video shows 21-year-old Michael Owen in the passenger seat filming while 20-year-old Kyle Careford is driving. The camera pans back and forth between both men while also capturing the road, cars looking like they are standing still, and the speedometer which shows them doing speeds up to 90 mph.

The two men were out in Owen’s red Renault Clio and were high on a number of different drugs – illegal and prescription. They were driving around Jarvis Brook, East Sussex, and the video shows Owen constantly telling Careford to slow down.

Owen had a five-year-old daughter named Lily-Rose Owen.

The final words heard are from Owen, who says, “You’re doing 90 boy, slow down.” Mere moments later, the camera cuts out in the early hours of April 12 as the car crashes into a church wall, killing them both instantly.

After a few seconds of darkness, a light appears, and a woman can be heard asking them if they are alright. She also tells them an ambulance is on the way. Shortly after, first responders are heard asking, “Can you hear me?”

There is no response.

Please note that the following video is quite disturbing, and the warning at the beginning even says it may be distressing. The footage has been released with the knowledge of both families.

The Metro reports that the incident happened in an area of Sussex in a 30 mph zone. The video was indeed filmed on Michael Owen’s phone, and the families agreed last week to release the footage so everyone could see it, according to Kat, Michael’s mother.

“I really don’t know why the boys chose to do what they did, but I blame them both for the decisions they made on this night.”

“If all this stops one person from making the same mistake, then some good has come from showing this video. I’m hoping it will have an impact on young people and make them see that a bit of fun can have such devastating consequences.”

“I would like all the young people out there to take notice and realise that you are not invincible and take seriously how precious your lives are to yourselves and others. I want young drivers to consider how much devastation it causes to the families and loved ones that are left behind.”

‘Watching the video was very upsetting, but I’m hoping it can be used in a positive way, by showing young people what could happen to them.”

The two men were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, but the impact with the wall of St. Michael’s Parish Church at such a high rate of speed proved too much to survive. Kyle Careford was not insured and did not have a license to drive the car, which was owned by Michael Owen.

The official verdict from the coroner is that both men suffered “death by road traffic collision.” The footage was found on a phone which was laying underneath a tree, not far from the scene of the accident that caused their deaths.

Lauren Humble is Michael Owen’s ex-girlfriend, and she spoke of their daughter. Humble said that Lily-Rose would have to “live with the impact of this horrific situation forever.”

The families have said that as heartbreaking as the video was to watch, it gave them all the answers they needed. The family of Michael Owen also said that the man on the video was “not the Michael that we knew who was a loving, caring, responsible daddy.”

Kyle Careford and Michael Owen’s deaths are tragic and sad, even though they happened at their own hands. The horrible, fatal crash caught on video was made available by the families of the victims as a warning to prevent others from driving recklessly and / or under the influence. Hopefully, their gesture will save many lives.
