Kim Kardashian made a shocking health revelation on the Season 11 promo for Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The 34-year-old reality star revealed that she may have gestational diabetes.
In a new promo for the upcoming season of the E! series, Kardashian-West received two health warnings during her routine doctor’s visit.
“Once you have preeclampsia, you’re at risk of having it again,” her doctor warned her during her routine checkup. According to the Mayo Clinic, preeclampsia can be a threat to both the mother and the child’s health. She also received the shocking news that she could have gestational diabetes since there’s more fluid than normal in her placenta.
Some pregnant women like Kim Kardashian, may even develop gestational diabetes; however, it goes away after the pregnancy. Be aware that preesclampsia is not the cause of diabetes in pregnant woman.
There’s only a chance that Kardashian will get gestational diabetes upon giving birth to her son. Most women develop type 2 diabetes years later, after giving birth, according to the American Diabetes Association.
Kim Kardashian has been very open about the complications she’s had while trying to get pregnant, and the health issues she’s had during her pregnancy. She has suffered from preeclampsia while carrying her first child, North. Preeclampsia is a serious health condition that raises her blood pressure to dangerous levels.
Even though gestational diabetes is a cause for concern, Kardashian has access to the best physicians, obstetricians, and nutritionists that can help lower her blood glucose levels. She previously revealed to Today at Cannes earlier this year that she’s trying not to gain weight like she did during her first pregnancy.
“I have a nutritionist and I’m trying not to eat like the first time. [Last time], I put on a lot of water weight, so I’m trying to prevent that from happening again. At the end of the day, I’m trying to live in the moment and try to really enjoy the pregnancy.”
If Kim follows her nutritionist’s advice, then she could also avoid developing type 2 diabetes if she loses weight or doesn’t get 20 percent over her ideal body weight.
If she does get gestational diabetes, then the famous Kardashian will have to keep track of her blood sugar levels for the remainder of her pregnancy to make sure the extra glucose in her blood system doesn’t make her baby grow quickly and have her deliver before her due date.
The reality star then reveals the news to her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, and their mom, Kris Jenner, who obviously looks concerned.
“They saw more fluid than normal in my placenta, which could mean I have diabetes.”
In addition, an insider has spoken to People magazine about Kim’s pregnancy complications. They said that the Kardashian-West family are preparing for a high-risk delivery, “but are prepared.”
In a blog post on her new website, Kim also revealed to her fans that she’s not too crazy about being pregnant, no matter what her fans may think.
“I’m gonna keep it real: For me, pregnancy is the worst experience of my life! LOL. I don’t enjoy one moment of it and I don’t understand people who enjoy it. My mom and Kourtney clearly did! More power to them but I just don’t relate!”
Kim went on to say that she doesn’t feel like her sexy self every time she’s pregnant. She compared it to an out of body experience.
Even with all the struggles and health complications that come with pregnancy, Kardashian says that it’s still worth having her children in the end.
“Really, it is all SO worth it when you have your precious baby in the end.”
Kim Kardashian and her sisters took over the new Season 11 promo for Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The Kardashian-Jenner sisters and their mom, Kris Jenner, are featured in the ad. The two people that are missing is their brother, Rob Kardashian, and Caitlyn Jenner.
