Kanye West ‘Auditions’ For ‘American Idol’: Does He Get the Golden Ticket To Hollywood? [VIDEO]

Kanye West “auditioned” for American Idol in San Francisco, where the talent competition is currently holding tryouts. Gossip Cop reports West’s appearance was a surprise to judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Junior, and Keith Urban. They actually burst out laughing when Kanye entered the audition room.

But Kanye kept a straight face. For his audition, Kanye performed “Gold Digger,” a song which features a shout to Jenneifer Lopez and her famous posterior.

“My pschic told me she ‘gon have an a** like Serena,” Kanye rapped. “Trina, Jennifer Lopez, four kids and I gotta take all they bad a**es to showbiz.”

Jennifer Lopez seemed pretty happy with the reference to her and raised her hands in approval.
Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, posted the video of the audition on her Instagram page of Kanye. And guess what? He got the Golden Ticket to Hollywood. Ryan Seacrest posted a picture on his Instagram account of him high-fiving Kanye with the caption, “look who’s going to Hollywood #IdolAuditions #kanyewest.”

The Kanye West American Idol audition isn’t the most unusual thing to happen in the life of the “Yeezus” rapper recently. Who can forget his recent announcement at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards that he will be running for president in 2020. Kanye was accepting this year’s MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for artists who have pushed the boundaries of the music video in their career. “It’s not about me,” West said during a very long and rambling acceptance speech in which he also mentioned his unfortunate Taylor Swift stage rushing incident of 2009. “It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.” The Democrat Party tweeted their approval of his presidential bid tweeting, “Welcome to the race, Mr West. Glad to have you.”

But the current U.S. president, Barack Obama, had some advice for Kanye’s presidential campaign as this Inquisitr article reports.

Obama told West that if he was serious about being the “Peezy” then, he’d have to “spend a lot of time dealing with strange characters who behave as if they are on a reality TV show.” This seemed like a pretty obvious nod to Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the reality TV show that Kanye’s wife, Kim has been a star of since 2007.

President Obama delivered this advice at a fundraising event in San Francisco where Kanye West was actually the musical guest. The gathering is a part of a series of fundraising ventures along the West Coast in the lead-up to the Democrat Party primaries and the presidential election in 2016.

But President Obama wasn’t done with his “advice.”

“Second important tip: saying you have a ‘beautiful, dark twisted fantasy’… that’s what’s known as ‘off message’ in politics,” Obama quipped. “You can’t say something like that.”

For the non-Kanye West fans out there, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the name of a Kanye West’s his fifth studio album, which was released in 2010.The album is one of Kanye’s most critically acclaimed works.

Obama couldn’t help but point out the obvious irony between Kanye’s presidential announcement and his own political career.

“Do you really think this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States?” Obama wisecracked. “That’s crazy. That’s cray!”

There’s no word yet on when the Kanye West American Idol episode will air or whether Kanye was serious about actually going to pursue his “Idol” ambitions. You can never really tell with him.
