Jim Carrey Serves As A Pallbearer At Cathriona White’s Funeral

Jim Carrey’s former girlfriend, Cathriona White, was laid to rest yesterday in Cappawhite, Tipperary, Ireland. At White’s funeral, Carrey served as one of the pallbearers for Cathriona. According to the Irish Times, the funeral of Cathriona White was held at Our Lady of Fatima Church and was attended by close to 300 people.

In attendance, along with extended family and friends, were Cathriona’s sisters, Lisa, Sarah, and Larina, her brothers, Tadhg and Liam, her grandfather, James, her step-mother, Brid, and her mother, Bridget. Father Tadhg Furlong presided over the funeral.

“Our feelings of loss are surely only a pointer to the great loss felt by her family and all who were close to her. We come together in sorrow and sadness and grief. I pray we come together also in hope. The members of Cappawhite community are here to show their support and concern. We gather in silent, grief-stricken fáilte … The circumstances of our being here today cause us great sadness and reminds us how vulnerable we are. We need God’s blessing and the support of each other. Since Cathriona’s death, the offers of help from so many to her family demonstrates that the same spirit of working together as a team is very much alive. ‘Ní­ neart go cur le chéile’- there isn’t strength until we unite, pull together.”

The shocking news of Cathriona’s death was reported on September 29, 2015. White’s body was discovered the day before. Carrey and White were in an on-again, off-again relationship since the duo met in 2012. Jim gave a statement to the media about the passing of his girlfriend.

“She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning.”

Cathriona was found by paramedics in her home in Sherman Oaks, California. It was suspected that White had died due to suicide. At the scene, it was reported that pills and a note were found near White. The pills that were found were Ambien, Percocet, and Propranolol. The medications all were prescribed to Jim. Carrey claims that he had no idea that the medications were no longer at his house, and that Cathriona was taking them. The official cause of death is still not known due to the coroner waiting until a complete toxicology report can be completed.

Hollywood Life reported on September 29 that the death of Cathriona White did not come as a shock to the people that were close to her. According to the story, White suffered from mental health issues, including depression, for most of her life. The story goes on to say that Cathriona and Jim used mental health as a way to connect with each other. When either one of them was in good spirits, they would try and help the other one out.

“It’s not like the end of their relationship is what caused her to take her own life. Depression was something she suffered from most days, but she was really dependent on Jim, especially since he was one of her only friends in the states. That, and she was madly in love with him. When their relationship ended she felt like she had nothing left to live for.”

The suicide note that was found near the body of Cathriona White was addressed to Jim.
