New Girl Season 5: Megan Fox Faces Backlash But She Doesn’t Mind Because Zooey Deschanel Is On Her Side
Megan Fox will be introduced in one of the episodes of New Girl Season 5 as a pharmaceutical representative, the newest tenant of Jessica’s room. However, not all fans were pleased with the casting choice. Even if Megan has a background in comedy television, it didn’t make her immune to critics.
Prior to New Girl Season 5, her comedy projects included Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Hope and Faith, and This is 40. She likewise appeared as a guest star in Two and a Half Men, What I Like about You, and Robot Chicken.
Some fans went as far as posting threats that they would boycott New Girl Season 5.

Nonetheless, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star seems unaffected because New Girl‘s lead star Zooey Deschanel previously endorsed her on Twitter.

Apart from Zooey, another cast member expressed his happiness about the news. For Max Greenfield, having Megan join New Girl has always been a part of his “vision board.” New Girl Season 5 is Megan’s comeback television project because her last project, Hope and Faith, was a decade ago.
For New Girl fans who continuously doubt Megan’s comedic chops, executive producer Elizabeth Meriwether has faith in her. She claimed, “we had Megan in mind when we wrote this part.” She also gushed about the actress in a statement to Deadline.
“It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it… I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show.”
Zooey won’t be seen in the first few episodes of New Girl Season 5 because she recently welcomed her first baby with Jacob Pechenik.
Despite being private about her personal life, Zooey wasn’t able to contain her happiness about her daughter.

Her daughter is apparently the reason why Zooey is fine taking a leave from New Girl Season 5. Apart from Megan temporarily filling in for Zooey, New Girl Season 5 will likewise shift its focus to Schmidt and Cece’s romance. As per previous reports, Cece’s mother will visit and might not give her blessing to the couple.
The first episode will be titled “No Girl” as a reference to Jess’s absence because she “gets sequestered on a jury.” According to the show’s producers, they are having fun with such angle because despite Jess’s absence, the guys are still able to watch the trial on television and get an update about their beloved friend.
New Girl Season 5 premieres on January 2016.
