Britney Spears Is Working On Her Ninth Studio Album: What Can Fans Expect?

Britney Spears is in the studio working on her ninth studio album, and she’s posting pictures of the process on Instagram.

Billboard reports that the new Britney project is in the early stages. It looks like the “Baby One More Time” singer is working with producers like DJ Burns and songwriter Mischke Butler. They’re in pictures posted on Instagram with Britney Spears.

According to the Business Standard, Butler is a Grammy-nominated producer who has worked with Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, The Pussycat Dolls, Jessica Simpson and Trey Songz. DJ Burns has worked with Ellie Goulding and has remixed songs by Lana del Rey, Iggy Azalea, and Calvin Harris. Britney is reportedly working with producer DJ Mustard, singer Sam Bruno, and songwriter Matthew Koma.

“Making magic in the studio with @thisisburns4real yesterday!” Spears captioned the first picture of her alongside the British music producer.

This new album will be Britney Spears’ first new body of work since she released Britney Jean in December 2013. The album featured the song “Work B**ch” which charted at number 12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, according to Wikipedia. “Perfume,” the second single from Britney Jean, peaked at number 76 on Billboard. The album itself debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200 album chart during the first week and sold over 100,000 copies. Unfortunately. this made it the lowest charting album thus far for Britney Spears in the United States. Britney Jean also under-performed overseas as well. It reached number 34 in the United Kingdom and only managed to reach the top 30 or 20 in most countries outside of the U.S.

The new Britney Spears album doesn’t have a release date just yet. But while they wait, fans can still get a taste of Brit in Vegas. Access Hollywood reports that the Britney Spears Vegas residency has been extended for two years.

According to the Daily Mail, things have been going well in Vegas. Britney Spears has made $35 million for her residency so far, $30 million for her first round of gigs which started back in December 2013, and $5 million more for her recently announced two-year extension.

Britney told E! Online that she’s not ready to leave Vegas just yet.

“I’m so proud of the show, and my band, my dancers and my crew have all become such a family to me.” she said. “When it came down to me really having to make this decision, I just couldn’t imagine ending my residency at the end of this year.”

She’s also got some new things planned for her new shows in Vegas. Britney Spears said of the upcoming shows, “I definitely have some major changes planned. I’m getting together with my team this week to go over the set list, design some new costumes and dream up new props.

“There are a few songs that are fan favorites that I really want to add to the show. It’s very exciting! If you haven’t seen the current show yet, you should come out before the end of the year.”

If she hadn’t decided to agree to extend her Vegas residency, her last show would have been over New Years Eve weekend. Britney did her 100th Vegas show last month.

The Britney Spears Vegas residency has helped revive Britney’s career and her image in the music industry after she suffered a meltdown in the mid-late 2000s. It’s also helped to boost her net worth. Britney Spears is reported to be worth $165 million, according to Hollywood Take. Not bad for someone who had her first number one hit in 1998, almost 20 years ago.

Britney Spears will also be on our TV screens soon. She’ll be guest starring on an episode during Season 2 of Jane the Virgin alongside Gina Rodriguez.
