A huge "alien city" has been discovered on the surface of the moon in a NASA photo, by a prominent UFO researcher — and this isn't the first time that UFO hunters have claimed to discover actual cities on the moon, cities that the UFO enthusiasts accuse NASA of knowing about, but covering up for decades.
But this discovery is different than many claims by UFO researchers, because of where it was discovered. Not "where" in terms of the supposed city's location on the moon, but where the NASA image turned up. Because this time, any armchair UFO enthusiast can hunt down this bizarre find and check for him or herself whether this image actually depicts an alien city, or UFO moon base — if the image is nothing but an optical illusion or photographic glitch.
The image turns up on the Google Earth app, in the often overlooked feature of the app known as Google Moon.
While not every Google user is aware of this feature, which is available under the "View" menu and "Explore" sub-menu on the Google Earth software, Google moon actually allows users to explore the surface of the moon through a complex composite of NASA images.
"The Moon mode in Google Earth was released on the 40th anniversary of the first lunar landing on July 20, 2009," NASA explains on the space agency's site. "Much like the Mars mode, this allows a user to transform the blue and green ball of Google Earth into the Moon, and explore our nearest celestial neighbor as a world in its own right."
To find the "alien city" on the surface of the moon, open the Google Moon application and enter the following coordinates in the "search" field: 28°10'30.12"N 22°42'5.99"W.
When you "land" at this location, here's what you'll see.
For a full explanation of the "find" and more images of the supposed alien city, see the video on this page, above. According to the YouTube page for the video, this discovery was made by prolific UFO researcher Marcelo Irazusta, who has made numerous similar discoveries in the past.
Earlier this year, Irazusta claimed to have discovered a large, gold disc on the surface of Mars, also by combing NASA images.
Here is another zoomed-in image of the "alien city," as captured by Scott C. Waring, editor of the popular blog UFO Sightings Daily.
"These alien structures are just freaking amazing! Look at the detail of this pyramid like white structure on the edge of the map. Its no wonder NASA covered it up, because there is a whole lot of structures in this area, probably a very large city on the surface," Waring wrote on his blog.
"These structures were found by Sandra Elena Andrade of Youtube. I had to go back and look for myself and it was big! I took the above screenshots on Google Moon. How much is NASA lying about? Its all been a lie. This my friends is the real deal here," Waring continued.
Back in 2007, Ken Johnston — who claimed to be a former NASA managerial employee at the space agency's Data and Photo Control Department at NASA's Lunar Receiving Laboratory — went public with allegations that NASA was aware of alien activity on the moon, including UFO bases and cities.
NASA had been aware of these startling phenomena for four decades, Johnston claimed.
NASA, of course, maintains a policy of not commenting on, and simply ignoring, the seemingly endless allegations that it is covering up knowledge of aliens, UFOs, and even cities on the moon.
"This discovery proves to us the existence of bases on the Moon. Incredible and exciting NASA images in Google Moon," writes Sandra Elena Andrade on the YouTube page for the above video. "In the video the coordinates are for all to verify."
