Taylor Swift Obsessive Claims To Have Written ‘Shake It Off,’ Plus Best Taylor Swift Cover Of 2015

Taylor Swift had some help writing the lyrics of some of her songs if “Riley” is to be believed.

Who is Riley? He was a guest on Dr. Phil’s show on Monday, October 5, 2015, in an episode segment entitled “Our Son Claims He Is a Famous Songwriter: Could He Be Delusional or a Master Manipulator?”

Twenty-three-year-old Riley claims to have written hundreds of songs for various music artists, and in particular insists that he worked closely with Taylor Swift on her famous song “Shake It Off.”

Most people can count their parents as their biggest fans, but that’s not the case for Riley, as the Huffington Post reported. His mother, Robin, whose idea it was to turn to Dr. Phil for assistance, doesn’t believe Riley’s claims to have assisted Taylor Swift by penning some lyrics for her in the slightest.

“If his lips are moving, he’s pretty much lying.”

The Dr. Phil show website adds that Riley used to be in Advanced Placement classes, but his life completely changed and he became homeless and a drug user. Riley’s mother admitted that, even at a very young age, Riley was a master manipulator and liar.

During the segment, Dr. Phil told Riley that he knows Taylor Swift well and that he has known Taylor Swift’s mother for a number of years. Suffice it to say that neither Taylor Swift nor her mother has ever mentioned Riley or made any claims to having help with the lyrics of “Shake It Off.”

“Is there any reason that she would tell me she’s never met you, heard of you, or worked with you on a song? Is there any reason you wouldn’t be listed on the song as a writer?”

Riley starts out adamant about his claims, but later in the episode, he admits that his previous drug use may have hampered his ability to think clearly.

“I definitely admit that there’s some questionable thought process going on… I’ve had to take into consideration that I might be wrong.”

As it turns out, Riley seems to harbor romantic feelings for Taylor Swift and even appears to be obsessed with her.

“I do believe that Taylor Swift and I are soul mates, and I love her with the kind of love that you would want forever and always.”

One Taylor Swift fan even took to Twitter to advise Taylor Swift (in her own special way) that she should take precautions.

Riley is not the only Taylor Swift and making news, but luckily the other won’t be so scary for Taylor Swift herself. Time has shared a video of an unofficial cover of Taylor Swift‘s “Shake It Off.”

Talented soul singer Joel Cross was performing an acoustic session at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens on Saturday, October 3, 2015, and included his rendition of Taylor Swift’s hugely popular song in his set.

Watch the video below to see what you think.

Prior to launching into his rendition of one of Taylor Swift’s most popular songs, Joel Cross mentioned that he doesn’t normally perform covers of Taylor Swift songs. Perhaps he should consider doing more Taylor Swift covers in the future, though, because his take on the iconic song was nothing short of brilliant.
