Angry Diners Leave Nasty Note For Mom With Screaming Baby At An Idaho Texas Roadhouse Restaurant

An Idaho mom was in for quite a shock when she brought her 10-month-old son out to eat at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant earlier this week. A pair of angry diners left the mother a nasty note complaining about her young baby.

Katie Leach of Nampa, Idaho, posted on the Facebook page for local news outlet KTVB News about her experience with two angry diners at the restaurant during the “1 monthly dinner we treat ourselves to as a family.”

As Katie, her mother, brother, sister, and 10-month-old Drew got ready to begin their meal at the Nampa Texas Roadhouse, a woman — one of the two angry diners sitting at the table behind them — stood up, walked to their table, and slapped a very nasty note down on the table between Katie and her son.

“Thank you for ruining our dinner with your screaming kid! Sincerely, the table behind you.”

When Leach read the nasty note, she said she was “so shocked, outraged, and speechless, I had no idea what to do or say.” In her Facebook post about the incident, she said she turned to the table where the angry diners were sitting — describing them as “two Caucasian women in their late 50s or early 60s” — and apologized for her son’s screaming, explaining that he was still in the process of learning to use his indoor voice.

“I turned around and told her ‘I am sorry but my son is 11 months old. I am trying to get him to keep it down but he is still learning and he is only a baby. He is learning!’ She then said ‘I have kids and grand kids and let me tell you none of them ever behave like THAT.'”

Leach admits that Drew’s “new thing” is screaming. She also admitted that Drew was, in fact, screaming “on and off” while she and her family attempted to quiet him down at the restaurant. However, no one, save for the angry diners who passed her the nasty note, even batted an eye. Sometimes, Katie says, Drew sounds like a dinosaur when he’s doing his screaming, but it’s not an angry kind of scream.

She explained further in her original post that “he will yell when I tell him no, when he’s super excited and happy or just for no reason at all,” like the majority of typical 10-to-11-month-old babies generally do.

Leach said that before slapping the nasty note down on her table, not once did the angry diners ask her to quiet down Drew, nor did they ever mention to Katie that Drew’s screaming was bothering them. Instead, they wrote her a mean-spirited note and chuckled together as they left it on her table. Katie complained to the restaurant manager about the behavior of the diners and showed him the note they left her.

According to New York Daily News, the manager — identified only as Zach — apologized to Leach for the other diners’ behavior, and explained that he had two children himself, with a third on the way, and that his wife would be extremely hurt to know what she and her family had to endure. The manager then paid for her family’s meal, told them they were welcome at his establishment any time, and then promptly went to visit the table of the angry diners. Katie says Zach told the two angry women that they had to finish their meals and leave quietly.

Speaking on behalf of the Nampa Texas Roadhouse, spokesman Travis Doster sided with Katie and the manager on the matter of the angry diners and their nasty note.

“We’re in the hospitality business. We want all our guests to have a great experience. We were voted one of the loudest restaurants by Consumer Reports. We are proud to be loud. If you want to hear clinking wine glasses and clinking forks, then this probably isn’t the place for you.”
