As season 12 of Grey's Anatomy continues to steam ahead, some changes may be on the horizon for Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo (Camilla Luddington). In fact, if the synopsis for the upcoming episode is anything to go by, then some majors developments are in the cards for the two characters. With that in mind, are the two getting ready to have a baby?
According to Carter Matt, the synopsis reveals that Jo is hiding a secret from Alex. Although this secret could be a number of different things, the fact that she is hiding it from Alex means that it is something important and something she is hesitant to reveal to him. Perhaps this is because her secret means that their relationship will have to be taken to a new level, which is especially true if the secret turns out to be that she is pregnant.
Additionally, the synopsis also states that Jo will seek out Stephanie's (Jerrika Hinton) advice regarding her secret. Her decision to disclose her secret to Stephanie only adds to the suspicion that she is having a baby. After all, the show has already hinted that Jo might be having a baby and discussing it with Stephanie would only make sense.
While this could be a little misdirection by the show, it really does seem as though Jo's big secret is that she is pregnant. If that turns out to be the case, then how will Alex respond when he finds out?
Although the episode does not air until October 8, Luddington did hint in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that her character's relationship with Alex was in a place where "those big questions about your future start to be asked."
Luddington went on to add that Jo will start to question their relationship, and where it is heading this season. "Jo has questions about what they're doing," she stated in the interview. "We're definitely going to see that."
With the show in need of a relationship that is actually functioning and not falling apart, it is possible that Jo's pregnancy could be a way in which they move forward with their relationship. This would certainly help with all the gloom and tragedy that occurred last season, and it would also give fans a couple to root for as the series continues on with season 12.
In addition to Alex dealing with the possibility of having a kid, he will also be confronted with a case in the hospital regarding the fate of newborn twins. At the same time, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) starts to question her past decisions after receiving an invitation to a former boyfriend's wedding.
Fans can watch all the drama unfold when new episodes of Grey's Anatomy air Thursday nights on ABC.
