One Direction fans that are worried that the band will never get back together after their 2016 hiatus recently received a scare about the “real reason” that One Direction will be taking a break.
As it appears, Liam Payne was trying to get a rise out of One Direction fans and posted a video on Twitter that fans had to watch in order to understand his joke.
According to MTV UK, when fans played the One Direction video that Liam Payne posted around October 3, it became clear that he was just kidding around. Although it was just a joke, it is obvious that there was no way that One Direction was going to spend time off in 2016 doing really bad voice overs of movie trailers like Shadow Pico.
However, fans may be right to feel nervous about One Direction’s plans in 2016.
While they may have revealed to the press that they are working on legitimate career angles during the One Direction break, other rumors are less comforting to One Direction fans.
For example, it has been hinted that Liam Payne might start working on a career as a country music star — and some One Direction fans are dismayed by this prospect. UnReality TV reports on September 19 that Liam Payne stated the following.
“I have written country songs [but] I started out doing rap songs. That’s where my mind is set … When the other boys go solo I’d love to write songs for them. I want to make great music that people want to listen to.”
Fans of Louis Tomlinson also feel that they will miss him when he spends 2016 helping his good friend, Briana Jungwirth, raise her child — but that trajectory is not entirely clear.
The Mirror reported on October 2 that Briana Jungwirth attended a One Direction concert in London — but Louis Tomlinson left her behind to party with ladies after the show.
Naturally, One Direction fans are ready for anything that Harry Styles or Niall Horan throws their way. For instance, Niall Horan has stated that he might be doing more sports watching and forming an Irish band while One Direction is on break, as previously reported by the Inquisitr.
As for Harry Styles, he allegedly already has enough material to fill an entire album, according to a June 7 report from the Daily Star.
On the other hand, One Direction insider Nick Grimshaw told the Guardian on September 12 that the 1D gents might taking it easy in 2016 and states the following.
“People think being a pop star is glamorous, but it’s exhausting and disorienting at their level. They don’t see the world, they just do press in different cities. They’re men now, and need to experience some actual life.”
Despite some of their questionable plans for their hiatus, One Direction appears to have set aside a special project to show fans that they may not be making music in 2016 as a band — but they still care.
According to a Daily Mail report from October 4, One Direction will be writing a children’s book to raise money for the Children In Need charity.
Allegedly, One Direction will be featured in the story as a band of frogs called “Pond Direction.” Other musician celebrities joining One Direction are Sir Paul McCartney and Kylie Minogue.
Of course, if One Direction needs some good ideas about how to spend 2016, fans on Twitter have a few suggestions. For instance, one fan suggests that One Direction should come over to have dinner at her house in France during their time off.
Also attempting to help One Direction during their 2016 sabbatical, the Dutch band Inbetween Colours tweeted that they will gladly stand in for One Direction in the press for an entire year.
