When it comes to politics, it generally seems more liberal parties are in favor of the Green Community. Just with political parties that swing more left alone, they are in support of clean energy technologies such as wind and solar, support the expansion and assimilation of hybrid or clean-energy vehicles, cutting down on carbon emissions through taxing, and even furthering research to reverse human-assisted climate change (which they now use because "Global Warming" was a horrible term to use).
Despite such support liberals have for green community, there is one major cause they seem to dodge. That is support for organic growing, a blanket term that includes numerous other endeavors such as growing personal gardens, supporting farms that are organic only, and labeling of GMOs. For example, a bill for mandatory labeling of GMOs in food products has been introduced numerous times in Congress, especially this year. However, they always seem to be shut down every single time. Back in 2013, it was the Senate that stopped it. This year, the House of Representatives were the culprits. And the ironic thing about this year's GMO labeling bill was the fact it was authored by Mike Pompeo of the Republican Party. And to add insult to injury for the Green Community, Congress instead passed a bill that was anti-GMO labeling.
The unfortunate detail about the government's opposition against organically grown and support of GMOs isn't a belief exclusive to the members of one party, but both. As a matter of fact, the most well-known politician in support of GMOs is a Democrat, which is again an irony given the Democratic Party's stance in the Green Community. That politician is Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton's opposition against organic growing is well-known in Green Community circles because of her association with Monsanto and GMOs. Back in 2014, Clinton made a public appearance at the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) convention in San Diego, California. According to Natural Society, Clinton announced her support of GMOs and the use of chemicals like glyphosate, the main chemical in Monsanto's Roundup Ready which was found to be cancer-causing by the World Health Organization (WHO).
From the attached video above showing Hillary Clinton's stance on GMOs, it should be no surprise the person she hired to run her 2016 Presidential Campaign was a former Monsanto lobbyist. According to AltHealthWorks, Clinton has hired Jerry Crawford for her campaign which is often known as "Ready for Hillary." Crawford will advise and assist in Hillary's campaigning in Iowa just in time for the state's caucus.
Needless to say, it is highly expected among those in the Green Community Hillary Clinton and Jerry Crawford's stance will be highly in favor for GMOs, especially when one finds just how deep their connections with Monsanto, the world's most prominently-known organization associated with GMOs, just run, as reported by AlterNet.
For starters, Jerry Crawford isn't just a lobbyist for GMO support but a past employee or partner for companies and organizations that support them too. He was a corporate representative for Kraft and Altria (parent company of Philip Morris USA). He served as a lawyer for Jack DeCoster, the man known for supplying eggs that led to a salmonella outbreak. Yet, his most prominent client was Monsanto.
Jerry Crawford also played a big hand in the 2010 Agriculture Secretary election, which was an election that showed Monsanto does not care about a person's party allegiance as long as said person doesn't oppose them. The reason why is because the election's Democratic nominee Francis Thicke was a critic of Monsanto. Ergo, Monsanto showed major support for the Republican nominee Bill Northey. Crawford would then endorse Northey, touting his backing as evidence of "strong bipartisan support." Crawford even said he was a "veteran Democratic political insider" to help push Northey. As a result, Northey won the election with a landslide 67 percent of the vote.
Now Jerry Crawford is helping Hillary Clinton and given his political history, Clinton now has a strong backing to win the Democratic vote. In the end, it comes down to the people and most likely, nobody in the Green Community will vote for her.
