‘Reign’ Season 3 Spoilers: A Big Bad Will Prove Very ‘Useful’ And More Teased

Reign will return to The CW next week, and fans are receiving new spoilers to help them deal with the last few days of waiting. The lives of Mary and Francis are not easy, but they might receive some help from an unlikely source next season.

TV Line shared some spoilers about Lord Narcisse, who is played by Craig Parker, on Thursday. He is the big villain on the series, but he might actually help Mary and Francis during Reign Season 3.

“If you aren’t already a fan of Craig Parker’s shady character — as I suspect you are, since you asked about him — you probably will be after the Oct. 9 season premiere. Though he hasn’t always been an ally to Mary and Francis, he’ll prove most useful when their enemies begin plotting against them. As for Lola, Narcisse remains intent on winning her over, no matter the cost.”

This CW series has aired on Thursday nights during its first two season, but it will move to a new night for Season 3. The Originals has reclaimed its Thursday night slot following The Vampire Diaries.

Some fans did wonder if the series was set to return to the network for Season 3. The promotion for the series has not been as pronounced as some of the other programs on the series. Reign fans were given a reason for worry when a report earlier this summer made it sound like the series was having its season cut.

A previous Inquisitr report shared that the series would end its production schedule on December 2. It was not clear for most of the summer if the production date meant a shortened order, but Spoiler TV reported at the end of August that CW dropped Reign’s episode order to only 18 episodes for Season 3.

There are more spoilers for Mary and Francis. He has been ill for the last two seasons, but Francis has tried to ignore it. He will not be able to do that anymore. Next season, he will face the possibility of his death.

Latin Post shared recent comments by showrunner Laurie McCarthy about Francis.

“We’re now dramatizing a health crisis for him. Francis, unlike the previous seasons, is going to move forward believing that his death may be imminent and he will make decisions accordingly.”

As for his relationship with Mary, the couple will be happy during Reign Season 3. They will focus on enjoying every moment they have left together.

McCarthy did not reveal when Francis’ time will come to an end, but it does sound like the series is setting it up for this season. Perhaps the end of Reign Season 3 will deal with Francis’ death.

Reign has been a popular series with loyal fans over the last two seasons, but the series has clearly not held strong in the ratings in comparison to some of the other programs on The CW. The network has shown some faith by keeping it on the air, and they have done that for other series, as well.

Beauty and The Beast is an example of this. That show’s strong fanbase helped keep it on the air when the ratings were lower than the network would have liked. The network moved the series to summer and renewed it for two seasons. Beauty and the Beast will air Season 4 next summer.

Would something similar work with Reign? What do you think? Reign will premiere its new season on October 9 on CW.
