Mom’s Boyfriend Allegedly Yanked Out Autistic Boy’s Teeth

A Pennsylvania man is accused of violently abusing his girlfriend’s autistic son, and is now facing a variety of charges. The Dreamin’ Demon reports that 27-year-old Nicholas Kernechel may have been abusing the 4-year-old special needs child for an extended period of time, and the details of what he allegedly did are horrifying.

The alleged abuse was brought to the attention of authorities when the child’s mother discovered obvious signs of violent abuse. She told authorities that she had left her 4-year-old autistic son with her boyfriend — who had been living with her — while she went out for a couple of hours. It wasn’t until the next morning that she found her child lying on the floor, asleep in a dried puddle of his own blood.

Upon her own examination, she found that her child was missing three upper teeth, and had injuries to his upper lip. His face was also covered in bruises. This prompted her to take him to the hospital immediately, which led to the shocking discovery that three of his teeth had been pulled out manually. However, it should be noted that no reports clarify on exactly how his teeth were removed.

The Associated Press reports that the child’s mother provided authorities with a bag containing three fully intact teeth, which reportedly came from the 4-year-old boy. A statement released by Upper Perkiomen Police clarified the gruesome evidence.

“The teeth were bloody but intact, from the tooth through the top of the root.”

Authorities believe that Kermechel yanked out the child’s teeth before putting him to bed, “bleeding and crying,” for the rest of the night. He also did not tell the mother anything about the child’s injuries until the following morning when she discovered him lying on the floor.

Meanwhile, the man’s attorney is calling the incident an “unfortunate accident,” claiming that the lad had fallen on the floor and injured his mouth. Of course, these claims do not line up with examinations performed by trained medical professionals.

Not only did the child tell authorities that his mother’s boyfriend caused the injuries, he reportedly told his mother that the man was “mean” to him. To make things look worse for the Pennsylvania man, authorities found photographs from the months leading up to the latest incident, which appeared to document bruising and bite-marks on the child’s face. This evidence appears to indicate that Kermechel — or somebody — had been abusing the 4-year-old autistic boy for an ongoing period of time.

This is not the first time someone has made media headlines for pulling out a child’s teeth. In 2014, a staff-member at a special needs school in New York forcibly removed three front teeth from a 7-year-old child. The incident took place when the teacher angrily yanked a sweater away from the girl, who had been chewing on it. This ended in her teeth being violently pulled in the process.

This year, a Florida dentist was accused of pulling out several of a child’s teeth, but that wasn’t all he was accused of doing. Dr. Howard Schneider has been accused of mistreating his child patients by putting his hands over their mouths, yelling at them, and other generally abusive behaviors. Also this year, R&B singer Angie Stone was accused of knocking out her 30-year-old daughter’s teeth. While the woman wasn’t a child, the case still attracted a lot of attention for the obvious reasons.

As for Nicholas Kernechel, the Pennsylvania man faces a variety of charges, including at least one count of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He’s being held in jail on bond in the amount of $100k. There are no reports indicating whether or not the man has been released at this time.
