‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6: Carol Is Still A Soccer Mom, And Morgan Has More To Worry About Than Rick’s Sanity

Season 6 of AMC’s The Walking Dead is fast approaching. Carol Peletier (played by Melissa McBride) and Morgan (Lennie James) are probably the two characters we have seen change the most over five seasons of The Walking Dead. But how will they evolve in season 6?

For Carol Peletier, she has moved on from being a domestic abuse victim to be being one of the most ruthless characters in The Walking Dead. If you want a hard job done, give it to Carol. She will kill for the better good of the group rather than sit around and talk about it.

Now that Carol has arrived in Alexandria though, thanks to all the corrupt communities Rick’s group have been a part of since the zombie apocalypse started, she has taken on the persona of demure soccer mom. Her sweet twin sets and cookies are winning the hearts of the Alexandrians, many of whom have not been outside their community since the apocalypse, so are none the wiser to the fact that truly horrible, bad people exist. None of them are aware, either, that, considering on which side of Carol you fall, she could be considered one of those horrible people too.

But will the people of Alexandria ever work this out? According to Melissa McBride when she spoke to Entertainment Weekly recently, Carol will still be maintaining her clever disguise into season 6 of The Walking Dead.

“Our group is trying to protect itself and provide a safe haven without their world turning upside down. So we’re having to play it safe and Carol is playing two faces. Hopefully [we] get everybody in the community to live together and survive together by implementing the same survival tactics.”

Melissa McBride is unsure whether this tactic will work in season 6 of The Walking Dead, explaining that Carol still has a job to do within Alexandria. “So we’ll see her other side,” she explained to EW.

Along with Carol, Morgan is another character which has gone through a huge transformation. The difference being that viewers have only seen this change over, essentially, a handful of episodes in the five seasons of The Walking Dead which has aired so far. However, in season 6, viewers will get to see how the reunion between Morgan and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) plays out. “Reconnecting with Rick is going to be really hard, and it’s going to be really difficult, and is going to be a large chunk of their finding out about each other in season 6,” Lennie James told Entertainment Weekly.

For all intents and purposes, Rick is close to the place where Morgan was the last time they met up back in season 3 of The Walking Dead. In the episode “Clear,” Morgan was the crazy one. Now, the way Morgan sees it, Rick is the one who has lost his way and Morgan is the one with clarity. However, an even bigger challenge for Morgan in season 6 of The Walking Dead will be the fact he will be with more people than he has been for a very long time.

“Right from the beginning he’s only ever been in a group of two at the most. It was him and his son, and obviously as fans of the show know, between season 3 at least and where we are now — he’s spent a huge amount of time on his own. This is the first time he’s going to be part of a group.”

Just how these storylines will play out in season 6 of The Walking Dead will surely be a fascinating journey, especially considering AMC is also planning to throw a record number of walkers at Alexandria just to stir things up.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC with season 6 on Sunday, October 11, 2015.
