WWE News: WWE Now Going Forward With Plans For The Rock To Take On Triple H At ‘WrestleMania 32’

WWE has brought back former top names every year now for the last number of years for WrestleMania. In fact, we might be going back around a decade ago to find a WrestleMania event that did not include a part-timer or former legend returning for WrestleMania program only. It should come as no surprise that WWE does this each year. WWE will bring back former stars to either work a program with a current star or work a program with another part-time WWE powerhouse.

This upcoming year, The Rock is set to come back for another match. The last match he had was at WrestleMania 29, where he lost the WWE Championship to John Cena in the main event of the show. Rock ended up getting hurt in that match and had to have surgery. This delayed his Hercules movie for weeks longer than it was originally scheduled to start filming.

It had been rumored last week that Rock would take on Brock Lesnar next year. However, those rumors were said to be false by the Wrestling Observer. Now, according to Cageside Seats, WWE is planning to continue the idea of The Rock facing off with “The Game” Triple H. The two battled each other for years in WWE, but never faced off one on one at WrestleMania, shockingly. The last time they were in a match together, they were in a Fatal Four Way match for the then-WWF Championship at WrestleMania 2000.

Rock Rousey

This was the infamous “McMahon in every corner” match that included Mick Foley and Big Show as the other two competitors all fighting for Triple H’s WWF Championship.

Rock was on WWE RAW when it was in Brooklyn, New York, last year, where he ended up laying the smack down on Rusev. He then had a backstage segment with Triple H that ran on WWE SmackDown that same week, where the two got in the other’s face and mentioned a potential match at WrestleMania one day. He also made a random appearance at WWE Royal Rumble this year when his cousin, Roman Reigns, won the Rumble match. He came out to help him against The Authority’s Big Show and Kane.

At WrestleMania 31, The Rock made a surprise appearance when The Authority’s Stephanie McMahon and Triple H were gloating for not only The Game’s victory over Sting earlier in the night, but also over their power and their displeasure for the WWE fans. The People’s Champion couldn’t take this, so he came out to interrupt The Game and the Billion Dollar Princess. Eventually, Stephanie slapped The Rock, resulting in her asking what he was going to do, “hit a woman?”

Rock Cena

Rock had filmed Fast 7 with the current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, Ronda Rousey, last year. She just so happened to be in the crowd that same night. So Rock went over and got her out of the audience, to the delight of everyone in the crowd. She then proceeded to not only judo throw The Game out of the ring, but she got very close to breaking Stephanie’s arm.

It was hoped by WWE that Ronda Rousey would be available for WrestleMania 32 this upcoming year, but UFC would never clear her for a match at the event. WWE wanted to either have her face Stephanie in a one-on-one match or have her and Rock team up against Triple H and Stephanie in an intergender tag team match. Sadly, since UFC President Dana White won’t clear her for that, she will not be able to perform at the event. She is said to be filming a movie during the time of WrestleMania, as well, so it looks like she will not be able to be in Rock’s corner, either, as previously hoped if she could not wrestle.

While WWE could always have her shock the WWE fans and show up to help The Rock next year, she is currently not in the plans for WrestleMania. WWE is still planning to go through with the match of The Rock vs Triple H, however, since there is still a lot of money in the two of them battling it out once again.
