Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello And Shawn Mendes ‘Just Friends’

Rumors have been swirling about Fifth Harmony singer Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes. Ever since the pair has been hanging out and sharing several adorable photos of each other on social media, fans have been wondering if the two are just more than friends.

Well, it appears that Camila Cabello, 18, and Shawn Mendes, 17, are “just friends” after all. An inside source told People Magazine that the Fifth Harmony cutie’s relationship with the soulful crooner is strictly platonic. This hasn’t stopped the romance rumors from swirling on Cabello’s Instagram account though. On the same day as the People Magazine story, she posted this artistic photo with the cryptic message: “Oh what a bunch of fools we lovers are.” The illustration also made fans somehow think that the Fifth Harmony singers were secretly involved in a romance with one another.

This also comes on the heels of a report via E! News which claimed that Cabello and Mendes were in fact dating. The celebrity gossip site said that the “Stitches” singer is has been dating Fifth Harmony beauty, but never said when their alleged relationship started. An alleged inside source only told the entertainment news site the two have been friends for a long time and have gotten acquainted when Mendes toured with both 5H and Austin Mahone. Cabello has also previously dated Mahone, who she referred to as her first love; however, he didn’t quite feel the same way.

Shawn and Camila made rumors swirl when they were caught flirting backstage at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Las Vegas last weekend. It all started when the bourgeoning Canadian pop star surprised the “Work It” singer on the red carpet. The Fifth Harmony band mate even shared a photo of herself with Mendes with Instagram, which shows her resting her head on his shoulder.

Camila captioned the photo: “@shawnmendes and I are in desperate need of caffeine. #iheartradio”

E! News must have thought that the two singers were dating when they were asked about their flirty messages on the red carpet. The entertainment site asked Mendes and Cabello if they would make a great couple. Mendes sputtered, “We can’t do that! I mean Spanish and Canadian don’t really mix.” Cabello butted in and said, “We actually hate each other in real life. We can’t stand each other.”

Camila even joked that her ex-boyfriend Austin Mahone used to be jealous of her friendship with the 17-year-old heartthrob.

“While we were on tour Austin and I were dating and Shawn was just kind of being a loner! Yeah, he was so jealous that he couldn’t come out on stage because he was just seething rage and crying blood.”

Neither Cabello nor Mendes has publicly confirmed nor denied the status of their relationship. That hasn’t stopped the pair from posting cute photos and videos on their Instagram accounts. Cabello shared this photo of herself sleeping as Mendes gives the camera the thumbs up sign. It appears that the sneaky crooner placed snacks around the brunette singer who was getting her beauty sleep.

Camila captioned the funny photo: “remember that one time @shawnmendes and @schloss8 decided to turn me into a fruit basket while I was napping?….KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN BOYS.”

There’s also that one time when Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes were captured singing together on camera. The Fifth Harmony singer shared the intimate black-and-white video with the flirty caption: “give me my name? @shawnmendes.” In the video, Camila’s seen playing with her dark tresses as she watches Shawn singing and playing his guitar.

The two singers have also been joking about their rumored romance on Twitter. Mendes tweeted that he’s “going to try to learn Spanish again,” which caused Cabello to reply with the snarky response, “don’t worry, you’ll learn fast because you have an INCREDIBLE Spanish teacher whose name rhymes with Vamila Carmello.”

These romance rumors come at a perfect time for both pop stars. Fifth Harmony have announced that their next album is on the way, while Mendes has been seen touring with Taylor Swift on her 1989 tour.
