Selena Gomez Topless On New Album Cover To Combat Fat-Shamers

Selena Gomez knows what it’s like to deal with bullies and being shamed. The “Come & Get It” singer used a recent incident to help her create songs and a message for next album. She has a message – both literally and figuratively – to send to bullies with her latest compilation and cover art.

Her confidence can be seen in the message that Selena Gomez has for others. According to Hollywood Life, Selena Gomez wants to help empower others to stand up for themselves. She wishes for an end to the bullying and shaming that is felt by many young people.

Selena Gomez was the victim of fat-shaming herself, after a recent trip to Mexico in April where she gained weight. Wanting to fight back and share her message, Selena Gomez took the negative situation and funneled her feelings into songs for her new Revival album. From the titles alone, including “Survivor,” “Kill ‘EmWith Kindness,” and “Rise,” Selena Gomez was able to demonstrate that she will not take the negativity lightly.

Her growth and maturity is especially evident when it comes to the topic of her body and the ever-present issue of fat-shaming that exists in the entertainment world. Selena Gomez posed topless for the cover of her Revival album to show her new-found confidence and comfort level.

“I’m very comfortable in my skin. I’m so proud of everything that I’ve done. And I’m a lot kinder to myself than I used to be. So if anything I just want that to translate. You know, my music is confident. My album artwork is so well done and I just think its beautiful…I love being able to kind of have my own ways of doing things.”

Selena Gomez has had to grow up in the public eye. From acting in the lead role in Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place, to dating teen heart-throb Justin Bieber, she has had to navigate the high expectations demanded of her.

“You’re supposed to go through growing pains. I’m glad I’ve never been perfect. You know, I don’t care at this point that people have seen my mistakes because I’m a human being.”

In anticipation of her second solo album’s release, Selena Gomez has put out the singles “Good For You” and “Same Old Love.” Both songs have garnered critical and commercial success with “Good For You” peaking at number five on the US Billboard Hot 100.

The latest album from Selena Gomez comes out on October 9, 2015. As revealed to E! Online, she is understandably excited and anxious for the release.

“I feel like I’m a pregnant woman at nine months and I just want the baby to come out already because it means the world to me, and it’s so great for me to actually be heard.”

Gomez also took to Twitter to share her excitement about the upcoming album.
