‘Doctor Who’: TV Guide Releases Essential Info On Maisie Williams’ Character

Doctor Who, the British television program that always manages to keep its audience enraptured, has enlisted the services of rising star Maisie Williams for a two-part episode. Williams, whose rise to prominence was her role as Arya Stark in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, was seen in the trailer for Season 9 of the show. The big question, though, is just who is the rising star playing?

The internet was rife with rumors about this mysterious new character played by Maisie Williams, and now we have a little more information to go on. And with Season 9 of Doctor Who already underway on the BBC, Doctor Who fans and Game of Thrones fans alike only have mere weeks to wait before finding out the answers to all their questions.

According to TV Guide, Maisie Williams will appear in Episodes 5 and 6: “The Girl Who Died” and “The Woman Who Lived.” TV Guide has let the cat out of the bag and claimed the new character that Maisie Williams plays is not related to the doctor, and the doctor does not know this character. Doctor Who returned on September 19 on BBC, but don’t look for Maisie Williams until Episodes 5 and 6!

Prior to this revelation, the Doctor Who team refused to give out any information on Williams’ character! According to Metro, Williams could have been playing a number of characters. One option is that she could have been Jenny, the doctor’s long lost daughter who went into space and was never seen again. Though her previous appearance differs from Maisie Williams, being Doctor Who’s daughter has its privileges, and she may have had the power to change her appearance.

Another Doctor Who character that Williams could have been playing is a family member of the doctor — his granddaughter, Susan. Metro explains that she got stranded on earth in the 22nd century and could have traveled through time to reunite with the doctor, as she has the power to do so.

In the trailer for the new season, Williams appears in front of the doctor and says “What took you so long, old man?”

The line begs the question, who is Maisie Williams’ character on Doctor Who? It seems that the Doctor’s daughter and granddaughter were the most logical options, but Doctor Who fans have come to expect the unexpected, and with TV Guide‘s recent revelation, fans now know that the character is not related to the doctor, and so the possibilities are again endless.

This YouTube video attempts to break down the trailer and explain it to fans, trying to figure out who Williams is playing on Doctor Who. Ultimately, however, regardless of the various theories, no concrete answers will be provided until the new season begins.

Williams was pleased to make an appearance in the Doctor Who series, according to the Irish Examiner.

“It’s quite daunting to be a part of such an iconic series, but everyone was so lovely and they are such a great team, I slotted in straight away. I can’t wait to see what the fans think of it.”
