‘The Vampire Diaries’ Mixes Love And Family With Dark And Disastrous Results

The Vampire Diaries won’t kick off its seventh season for another two weeks and already trouble seems to keep mounting daily with all of that trouble seemingly coming from either family or imposing love interests. It seems The Vampire Diaries‘ Salvatore brothers can’t turn around without coming face to face with a new threat. Mystic Falls just isn’t the safe haven it was even just six short years ago.

The biggest question on everyone’s mind has to do with newly married Candice King (formerly Candice Accola) and how her real life pregnancy will affect Caroline’s story and, if the impending birth is written into the story, will Stefan be the father of the miraculous vampire baby? Even that supposition seems to be jumping the gun, since Ms. King is even reluctanct to reveal if Steroline has survived to the new season of The Vampire Diaries.

“It’s maybe affected the size of the pants I’ve been wearing (laughs),” The Vampire Diaries‘ King joked, upon being asked how her pregnancy would affect her role as Caroline Forbes.

Ms. King seemed wary of revealing much of anything about the next installment of The Vampire Diaries, but, as the actress says, it may be that she just doesn’t know that much more than TVD fans, themselves.

“We’re only a couple episodes in, so there’s still a whole lot of story to tell. As much as I would love to answer questions about those storylines, with extra exciting news, it’s kind of the same as every other season,” The Vampire Diaries actress told Just Jared. “We don’t know what’s going to happen. So I’m in the same boat as all of those awaiting what direction they will take.”

As all Vampire Diaries fans already know, Lily Salvatore (Annie Wersching) is going to be a source of great contention for the Salvatore brothers, but it now seems that Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) mother issues will dredge up an even bigger can of worms, when The Vampire Diaries resumes.

The Vampire Diaries has always relied heavily on historical flashbacks to explore exposition, and season 7 will be no different, especially with mother dearest providing such fertile ground for those flashbacks. As it turns out, those flashbacks will also provide an opportunity to show much more of the Salvatore patriarch and it has been revealed that John Charles Meyer (Hawaii Five-O) will be taking on the role of Daddy Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, reports Design & Trend.

Meanwhile, Kat Graham confesses to feeling very excited about the new season of The Vampire Diaries, because Bonnie finally gets a new romantic interest. Graham says that her on-screen love interest won’t be one of the new characters coming to The Vampire Diaries.

“It really surprised me who they ended up putting Bonnie with, but I was super stoked,” The Vampire Diaries actress revealed. “It’s someone that everyone knows and loves, so it’s super fun.”

For those assuming the new love in Bonnie’s life is everyone’s favorite mortal, Kat says her character won’t be finding romance with Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig).

“Matt’s a very nice guy, but I don’t know if the Bonnie that’s finally back — or the Bonnie that’s been hanging out with Damon Salvatore — is anything like the sweet Bonnie from Seasons 2 or 3 who would even be good for him,” The Vampire Diaries‘ Graham explains. “She gets involved in some crazy stuff, and even some dark stuff, this season. But I love that Matt is so beautifully human, and I like that they’ve always kept him human… even though Bonnie does something to him early on in the season that’s a little creepy and could go terribly awry. Other than that, they have a great relationship.”

There is another newly-single love interest in Mystic Falls that may catch Bonnie’s attention on The Vampire Diaries. It seems logical that Damon should go for the one woman that has to die, before Elena can come back. Right, Vampire Diaries fans?

The Vampire Diaries season premiere will air on Thursday, October 8, on the CW network.
