Is Little Mix Creeping On One Direction’s Turf? 1D May Not Care

Is it possible that One Direction will be upstaged during their 2016 hiatus by none other than Little Mix — the band that Zayn Malik’s ex-fiancee is a member of?

As it appears, there is strong evidence that Little Mix has just as much X Factor as One Direction — and it doesn’t seem like One Direction would mind Little Mix replacing them in the charts.

Putting their popularity to the test, Capital FM Radio put Little Mix in a race against One Direction on September 24 alongside Justin Bieber, Sam Smith, and Ed Sheeran. Little Mix and One Direction were voted number one and two as of September 26 — but 1D and the Mixers appear to be friends and not foes.

Could there be a reason for this lack of competitiveness between One Direction and Little Mix? Digital Spy writes on September 25 that out of all the X Factor bands, Little Mix and One Direction are both in the top five most successful category.

However, it should be noted that One Direction has been around longer than Little Mix. Currently, One Direction has sold 50 million albums since their first debut in 2011 while Little Mix has sold 10 million albums since 2012.

Regardless, it appears that One Direction are firm supporters of Little Mix. In particular, this alliance has seemed to grow stronger since Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards and former One Direction member Zayn Malik broke up in July. Since that time, Little Mix and One Direction have performed at events like the VMAs in America and the Apple Music Festival near London.

One Direction and Little Mix are also friends in real life. For instance, after the Apple Music Fest, Little Mix and One Direction went out on the town together in London, according to the Daily Mail. This happened despite the fact that Niall Horan and Perrie Edwards were sick during the festival earlier that day.

Supporting Little Mix on social media is nothing new for One Direction, and there have been more than a handful of supportive tweets from individual 1D gents about Little Mix. For example, as far back as 2011, Niall Horan was tweeting about how cute the Little Mix ladies were.

Obviously, Little Mix also adores One Direction. MTV UK writes on September 23 that Little Mix showed their solidarity by dancing hard during One Direction’s set at the Apple Music Festival.

There was also recent evidence that Little Mix might have dissed Zayn Malik in one of their songs — and One Direction fully approved.

This might especially be true since, according to the IB Times, Zayn Malik tweeted “Don’t wait for me. I’m not coming home” on September 24 — and many think the tweet was directed at his Little Mix ex.

According to a Hollywood Life report from September 26, during an interview with One Direction by Capital FM Radio on September 25, they played Little Mix’s “Love Me Like You.” Not only did One Direction appear to truly love the Little Mix song — they also may have appreciated the fact that the song might be a diss against Zayn Malik.

Of course, just like One Direction, Little Mix scores in almost every celebrity category outside of music. This includes Little Mix being a regular celebrity fashion feature in publications like the Daily Mail.

According to a Metro report from July 20, recent One Direction moves repeated by Little Mix include having their own perfumes, having famous friends, and being successful in both the U.K. and America.

Despite the alliance of these X Factor stars, Little Mix appears to not want anyone else in the group. Regarding the slumping viewers of X Factor, Little Mix allegedly said that they think that the television show should take a break, according to the Mirror.
