‘Captain America: Civil War’ Cast, Possible Spoilers — Vision May Show Darker Side, Daredevil Playing Role?

The Captain America: Civil War cast has been party to a lot of changes since Winter Soldier, and some new revelations are sure to shake up the Marvel Cinematic Universe even further. Avengers: Age of Ultron may have set some things up beforehand, but much like the comic book story arc the next film is named after, there seems to be a lot more going on.

The main villain has been revealed in an interview with Age of Ultron star Elizabeth Olsen, and it isn’t Crossbones, as previously reported by the Inquisitr. This reveal is a spoiler, so it will be mentioned further down.

One character who will be notably missing in Cap’s next film is Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), as the people in charge of the Marvel film franchise are allegedly saving him for a movie further down the line. After his clash with Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) in the Hulkbuster armor, it appears that Marvel doesn’t want to overwhelm us with the big green rage monster. Also, this absence from the Captain America: Civil War cast could be a sign that Joe and Anthony Russo want to focus more on the story instead of flashy battle scenes.

Although Elizabeth Olsen revealed who the main villain will be for the film, it hasn’t been revealed what role her character Scarlet Witch will have.

As Movie Pilot reports, the lack of the potentially out-of-control Hulk leads to speculation over who will start the whole scuffle. Plus without Hulk in the Captain America: Civil War cast, it’s unclear what role General Ross (William Hurt) will play.

In the comics, a super-villain known as Nitro causes a massive explosion in a well-populated portion of Connecticut, leaving Speedball as the sole survivor and prime suspect. This starts a chain reaction resulting in the Superhuman Registration Act. However, neither Nitro or the New Warrior Speedball are expected to be in the film. This is most likely because mutants are still the property of Fox Studios.

Sorry, Speedball fans, we probably won’t get to see his transition into Penance in the upcoming film.

Movie Pilot suggests that the Captain America: Civil War cast may be adding a character from a popular Netflix series. Daredevil might end up being what starts the whole superhero scuffle, making the series a must-see to get the whole story.

Another theory is that an Avenger introduced in Age of Ultron might have something to do with it. According to Master Herald, Vision actor Paul Bettany has stated that his character is still maturing and might be changing into a darker character.

This makes sense, since Vision was set up in the franchise as Tony Stark’s Ultron experiment unexpectedly going right. Iron Man might feel possessive about the upstart android, while Captain America might see Vision becoming too much like Ultron.

Another addition to the Captain America: Civil War cast is the villain, who has been revealed as Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl). While Frank Grill’s character Brock Rumlow (aka Crossbones) was the one who fired the fatal shot and killed Cap in the comics, it was Baron Helmut Zemo who had brainwashed Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) into fighting his old friend in the last Cap film.

It is yet unknown how much of a role Spider-Man (Tom Holland) will play in the Captain America: Civil War cast, or what his costume will look like. However, the comics had Tony Stark build him a new technologically-enhanced suit in exchange for his cooperation with the Superhuman Registration Act. After revealing his identity to the world at a press conference and seeing his worst fears come true, Peter Parker dumped the suit and joined Captain America.

As more information is revealed, we will know more about what the movie will do. When the official Captain America: Civil War release date hits in 2016, we will all know at last.
